Immediately my students and colleagues were impressed with our lights that added a flare to our little reading space. The lights are covered with feathers, which correlated with their Unit on Birds. It provided a visually appealing model for them so they can touch and experience. The lights became a focal point that added height to our room making it seemed larger and more spacious. The students enjoyed reading the sight word books on our white fur rugs. The books are at their reading ability so they were able to increase their reading stamia. Thank you again for your donations.”

Wow, the mural added life to our windowless room. It was big enough to provide a life-size experience as if they were reading at the beach. ALL the students like reading on the soft fur rug as they imagine being there. I would play the sounds of the waves crashing into the shores. It's very calm and soothing.
My newcomers feel welcomed and included as they use the wall map to show their classmates where they are from. The map provides a global perspective that there are so many different countries and cultures. Thank you so much for these added values to my classroom.”

My students were all smiles when they saw all the real plants in the room. Every student that enters the room wants to touch and feel the plants. The plants just heighten and lighten the room. They bring natural beauty into a very small room. The plants acted as an icebreaker for some of my students. Many newcomers are reluctant to talk because of their limited language but the plants provided something real to learn new vocabulary. We talked about parts of the plants and how the plants are different and simmliar. Thank you again for your donations.”

Thank you for the plastic drawers and tiered cart. These were a life saver for my students to put their crayons, pencils, notebooks and all of their other supplies. The clear plastic made it even better to see the materials inside even though we did put labels on all the drawers. My students loved that it was on wheels, they could move it to their table or desk when they needed it and clean up was a snap. We saved a lot of time between groups of students. The tiered cart with the top lid gave me an additional space to put teaching materials.”

I am always excited to begin using my new materials with my ESL students. Each student that enters my classroom brings with them different opportunity to teach and grow with them. This is why your donation is needed desperately.
As kindergarten start their school year, they need hands-on materials that will provide them with much-needed assistance. As part of your donation, I was able to use the letter tracing and writing sheet for clearly defined guidelines. My student was able to easily write the letter with a dry-erase marker for extra practice. This will be used for many years to come. Thank you.”
I teach English Language Learners from grades K-5th.
I have several newcomers that do not speak any English. Having books and activities of everyday items/actions in English and Spanish would help my students learn the English language. Most of us will never know the struggle that these children face day to day with not knowing or understanding our English language. The materials that I am requesting will provide vivid pictures with intentional objectives for them to practice and use in their daily conversations with peers and other adults.
Thank you for putting yourself in their shoes and donating to help my ESL class!
