  • Sight Words!

    Funded Sep 17, 2024

My students enjoy these high-frequency sight words while they play this classic matching card game. They like having the pictures on the card to make it more interesting and fun. These card games force them to be patient and wait their turn. It's an opportunity to read the sight words and talk to one another. The cards are made of thick material so it's difficult to bend the cards. I can reuse them over and over with. Once they matched all the sight words, they would use them tho in their writing. I can see an improvement in their sight word recognition.”

  • Bilingual Oxford Dictionary for Newcomers!

    Funded Aug 23, 2024

The Oxford Picture Dictionary for the Content Area for Kids builds direct, explicit, multifaceted vocabulary instruction using rich visuals. It brings meaning and context to words to activate learning for English Learners. My students thrive when working in small groups. They practice engaging and meaningful topics in a welcoming and warm environment. They can practice speaking, reading, writing, and listening to their new language without fear of making mistakes. They feel accomplished because they can do the work and apply the new information immediately.”

  • STEM Kits!

    Funded Aug 16, 2024

There's nothing more exciting and heartfelt than seeing your students light up with new discoveries and wonder. The take-apart dinosaur kits allowed my students to work with their hands using a tool. Children develop fine motor skills in their hands and fingers and gross motor skills. They also improve their hand-eye coordination as they put the pieces together.

The dinosaur counting sets with the tongs were perfect for developing their fine motor skills. We also used them to learn math concepts like counting, adding, subtracting, colors, and patterns.”

  • Plant Knowledge!

    Funded Jul 11, 2024

Than you so much for the soil, garden gloves, tools, and the garden box. My students were very excited about the entire planting process. They researched the different plants and cast a vote on which ones to plant. There were lots of new vocabulary introduced and conversations that surround this topic. This gave them an understanding of weather and wha plants need to grow. Each student had a job with roles and responsibilities which they were very proud of. This opportunity provide them sense of importance which made them very proud of themselves.”

  • Running Noses Need Tissues!

    Funded Nov 22, 2023

Thank you again for providing boxes of tissues, snacks, and gloves. The tissues came in handy because the cold, RSVP, and flu were spreading throughout all of the grade levels. The students were grateful to have tissues instead of wiping their noses on shirts or using hard paper towels.

It was also nice to have gloves to clean tables and desks after each group and at the end of the day. It just helps keep the room free of germs so they remain healthy.

The snacks provided an option for the younger students while they waited for lunchtime.

    Thank you.”

  • Already Made Activities by Educators!

    Funded Dec 29, 2022

Thank you so much for the gift cards for Teachers-Pay-Teachers. This made my life a little bit easier when I get new students from another country. I am able to search and find high quality of work already made by an English as a Second Language teacher like myself. The worksheets and activities were highly engaging and easier for my newcomers to understand and complete. My students enjoyed making little booklets that then can use in the regular education classroom and then take home for additional practice.

These activities and worksheets are reusable so that I can use them for many more years.”

  • Tools for School

    Funded Dec 12, 2022

Oh wow! There was only cheers and excitement when I presented my kindergarten with the alphabet tubs. Many of my English as a Second Language learners do not know the vocabulary which makes identify the beginning sound difficult. Providing my kindergarten with an object to see and touch makes the new vocabulary relatable. They also love the 3 and 4 word puzzles that are engaging. All young learners are able to visually piece with each parts together to make a word. They learn the word that matches the picture. It has been a very useful resources to my classroom.”

  • Masks Are Mandatory!

    Funded Mar 4, 2022

Thank you for the much needed masks. With this ongoing situation, to keep everyone safe and healthy we need to continue to wear mask. The inconsistency with mask policy has hinder our learning environment for staff and students. My students are very comfortable wearing them and has adjusted on how to speak and learn while wearing them. It forces them to speak up to be heard and improve their pronunciation. They have to be intention about how to make sounds and form their lips when decoding words.”

  • iPad: A Learning Tool

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

Today's learning environment is always changing and moving at a pace that is hard to keep our students engaged. The addition of the new iPad has allowed me to provide an opportunity for each of my students to have a device. I am able to provide each student an individualized targeted lesson that they continue to use and practice on the new iPad.

All of my students were excited about the updated version because the programs loaded faster which kept their attention. My boys were able to navigate the new iPad with ease and very excited about the ne version.”

  • Workbooks for Newcomers!

    Funded Aug 17, 2021

Thank you, Thank you! When new students enter my classroom I want them to feel welcomed and ready to learn. These workbooks are engaging and interactive so that they don't feel so overwhelmed with new sights and sounds. They need materials that are easy to understand and scaffolded to make their learning experience enjoyable and I meaningful at the same time. I know that they are successful because they are able to access the text and connect the content to their daily life. They feel like they are learning alongside their peers, not as students with limited English proficiency. Thank you.”

I teach English Language Learners from grades K-5th. I have several newcomers that do not speak any English. Having books and activities of everyday items/actions in English and Spanish would help my students learn the English language. Most of us will never know the struggle that these children face day to day with not knowing or understanding our English language. The materials that I am requesting will provide vivid pictures with intentional objectives for them to practice and use in their daily conversations with peers and other adults. Thank you for putting yourself in their shoes and donating to help my ESL class!
