Funded Feb 3, 2023I am writing with utmost gratitude to express my heartfelt appreciation for your generous contributions to our classroom. The impact of your thoughtful gifts has been truly remarkable.
Upon learning that our project had received funding, my students were overjoyed. This year, our eighth graders are undertaking an advanced science course, typically reserved for high school students. They have been diligently working towards successfully completing the curriculum. As part of their exam preparation, the students have been engaged in various laboratory experiments and projects.
The class set of colored pencils you provided has proved invaluable in fostering creativity and enhancing comprehension of challenging tasks through the use of color. The karaoke machine, accompanied by wireless microphones, has allowed our students to confidently project their voices and share their ideas. The magnetic rolling whiteboard has enabled me to display important messages, while the classroom timer has proven indispensable in keeping the students focused and on track. Moreover, the magnetic board spinner has made class participation an enjoyable experience, while the game buzzer has injected excitement into our topic reviews. Additionally, the basketball hoop has facilitated friendly competition among the students as they exchange scientific knowledge.
These resources have not only made science learning enjoyable but have also aided the students in comprehending complex concepts. Looking ahead, we plan to continue utilizing these wonderful gifts to review for the upcoming Living Environment Exam. Your contributions will not only benefit this year's scholars but will leave a lasting impact for many years to come.
Once again, I extend my sincerest gratitude for your kind support in enabling me to share my passion for science with the exceptional scholars at our school. Your generosity has made a significant difference in their educational journey, and I am truly grateful for your invaluable contribution.”

Funded Sep 29, 2022I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous gift to our classroom. The iPad has been a wonderful addition to my practice and is allowing me to make a stronger impact on the young science scholars that I have the privilege to work with every day.
I am using the iPad's screen recording feature and a writing app to draw and write on images to help students grasp challenging science concepts. Many times, students still have questions regarding the topics that they learned during the day, and the screen recordings that are shared with them allow them to revisit the topics and replay the videos. Many of our scholars have really appreciated this additional help. In addition to the videos I create, students are also able to create their own explanations as I walk around the classroom to check for understanding. The student-created videos can then be shared with the rest of the class as an opportunity to demonstrate their learning.
All the dual language students, as well as the English language learners, are benefiting from this wonderful donation. The dual language students are able to understand the topics better with the addition of visuals and explanations that are presented in both English and Spanish. English language learners are also able to practice their listening and speaking skills. Learning science has definitely been more exciting for the whole class.
Thank you so very much for helping me share my love of science with the amazing scholars at our school!”

Funded Jun 2, 2017One of the important parts about teaching is to always continue to learn and to grow in order to better serve my students. I like to motivate my students and help them develop a love for learning. Science can be a tough subject for some students. I help them overcome these challenges by having them participate on hands-on activities that are interesting and fun. The conference I attended allowed me to meet other teachers that are also passionate about teaching science. I was able to participate in professional development sessions that have provided me with the resources and ideas that I need to keep my students interested in science. I teach living environment and this can be a tough class for my 8th graders. At the conference, I learned how to use different hands-on activities in order to teach cellular membrane functions and other difficult concepts. I also attended a workshop on Ipad apps which students can use to create stop motion videos in order to explain scientific processes. In addition, I attended a keynote speech by Derek Muller, creator of Veritasium, which is a science education channel on You Tube. His speech was both motivating and inspiring. The membership to NSTA and STANYS has also provided me with an immense amount of resources that I can use in my classroom. I am forever grateful for the wonderful opportunity of attending the conferences and the memberships to these amazing organizations. The knowledge that I have gained will help me reach more students and help them develop their passion for learning science.”
