  • A Teacher's Dream...Found It!

    Funded Aug 7, 2017

Words cannot describe how grateful we are for this organized cart to store all of our big books and other materials. This cart is a huge asset to our classroom. My students and I are really enjoying this new addition. We use it everyday; for read aloud, displaying favorite books and showcasing student work. We love felt stories and poems and the easel holds our felt board perfectly. I don't know how we managed without this cart. Again thank you for supporting our classroom with your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan

  • You Can Never Have Too Many BOOKS!

    Funded Apr 19, 2017

My students were so excited about the arrival of our new non-fiction guided reading books. I told them that some very generous people donated these books to our classroom.

My students will be using these books for guided reading. Guided reading is a way for me to scaffold and support reading. These books are perfect for introducing and using sight words, because memorizing sight words is very important for emergent readers. Through guided reading my students will get the opportunity to read at their instructional level with some guidance from me. This will help them gain confidence in reading and move towards independence.

My goal is to provide my students with well written and interesting books that will encourage them to love reading and to read every day, because they enjoy it. By continuing to nurture their skills in reading, my students will continue to develop a love of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan

  • We Love Math

    Funded Apr 9, 2017

My students and I want to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for your generous donations. In class, I strive to provide varied opportunities for my students to go above and beyond in all that they do. The math activities funded by your donations will play an important part in doing that.

These materials provide my students opportunities to independently explore skills. While students are engaged in these math activities, I will be able to continue my focus and my attention on leading guided math groups and know that the others are engaged in meaningful work.

We are a multi-aged classroom and these new resources are being used by all our students. These materials are hands on and make learning so much fun.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan

  • Instilling a Love of Reading is the Best Gift

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

My students were so excited about the arrive of our new King School series guided reading books. I told them that some very generous people donated these books to our classroom. The expression that they gave when they saw the boxes was of pure joy and excitement. They could not wait to start reading them.

My students are using these books for guided reading. Guided reading is a way for me to scaffold and support reading. Through guided reading my students will get the opportunity to read at their instructional level with some guidance from me. This will help them gain confidence in reading and move towards independence.

My goal is to provide my students with well written and interesting books that will encourage them to love reading and to read every day, because they enjoy it. The King School Series is an ethnically diverse collection of leveled books with engaging relatable stories with real life situations that my student will be able to relate to. By continuing to nurture their skills in reading, my students will continue to develop a love of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan

  • Montessori Small Group Learning

    Funded Mar 26, 2017

Thank you for your generous donation for the purchase of our small group guided reading table. This guided reading table will support small group instruction and allow me to provide one-to-one support for students. The students were so excited when they came in that morning. It has made a huge impact on our group lessons. Students are so excited to come and work at the new table and as a result they are more focused during instructional lessons.

Again, thank you, I am positive that this simple table will not only support but help facilitate the reading and writing process in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan

  • Drawing and Writing are Essential in Pre-K and K

    Funded Mar 28, 2017

My students were so excited to receive the new Ferbie pencils. They already love to draw and write, but these beautiful new materials have created a whole new energy in the classroom. My kindergarteners are adding more exciting details to their illustrations and stories and my preschoolers who were just beginning to write are creating exciting books. There is a furry of writing, drawing, coloring, cutting and pasting. They are so excited to share at the end of the day! I overheard one of my students say to another; "These pencils are like magic! I love them so much!" We are so thankful to our gracious donors for these magical pencils!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ryan
