A Room That Inspires
Funded Oct 11, 2017Our classroom is so grateful for the new shelving for our writing center. When the large boxes arrived our students couldn't imagine what was inside. When they saw the new shelves they were ready to move the classroom around to make way for our new writing center. The best part was when some of the children helped me assemble the smaller shelf.
Preschool children learn best with hands on activities. The shelves in our classroom have now provided a space for a new writing center. In the writing center the children independently access writing tools and paper. Many of the children are now creating journals. In their journals the children will draw pictures and then dictate their words to the teacher. Some of the children even try to write their own words or copy words. It is amazing to see how their journals evolve over time.
The writing center will continue change by adding new writing tools, stamps, stencils, and envelopes. It will be exciting to see how the children will be inspired to create meaningful writings over the rest of the school year. Thank you again for making the writing center possible.”

This classroom project was brought to life by PNC Grow Up Great® and 7 other donors.Little Hands, Big Ideas
Funded Apr 4, 2017Thank you for your generous donation to our project, Little Hands Big Ideas. Your donation provided our classroom with numerous hands on STEM materials. The children were so excited when the boxes arrived and helped unpack each item. They had so many questions and couldn't wait to start playing.
The magnetic board along with the tubes, gears and ramps are the perfect tools for the children to explore speed, gravity, angles and motion. We also received wooden ramps, balls and cars The ramps can be raised and lowered affecting the speed and distance traveled.
In preschool we are focusing on how children can use their problem solving skills in the area of science, technology, engineering and math and along with your wonderful donation our children will continue to grow in these areas.”
