I can't thank you enough for donating all of these student-requested books to help build our classroom library. When I moved from 5th to 6th grade, I didn't take any of my classroom library books with me. I felt most of the books were meant for elementary students, and the teacher taking over for me had no books. Your generous donations will help foster a love of reading to countless girls and boys for years to come.”
My students read each and every day. Once students finish reading a book, if they like it, the students will give a book talk to the classroom. This way, other students gain awareness of the variety of good books available to them to read. The class also participates in two book clubs during the year, so the book talks help groups decide on the perfect book to select for their book club.
My students master the reading standards by reading novels. Each students, or book club, completes tasks as they read a book. These tasks are designed to help students comprehend basic story elements and additional reading standards. The teacher provides lessons and additional information to assist students as they go. In this way, learning becomes more satisfying for each students because they are mastering standards while enjoying a book of their own choice. The students have spoken, and this is what they want!
