  • Fifth Grade Oil Pastel Artists!!

    Funded Dec 16, 2020

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. These supplies were such a surprise to my students! I wish you could have seen how happy they were when they received their oil pastels and oil paste paper.

We have done 3 major art pieces so far including a beautiful butterfly. We were able to use the oil pastels for the butterfly and use watercolors and salt for the sky. They came out very vibrant.

Students are taking so much pride in their work. They are enjoying this creative outlet during this difficult time of distance learning. Our next project will be drawing a yellow spotted lizard which is a character from a novel we are reading called 'Holes'.

Thank you again for giving back to your community!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Muller

  • Alternate Seating for Our Wiggle Monsters!

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

First, I would like to start by telling you how selfless your are. I know that you cannot see how your donation affects my students, but it does, everyday, all day. Your donation of all the different types of chairs have been used by almost all of my students already.

There are many students who have a hard time sitting down for the majority of the school day. We do have brain breaks and physical activity throughout the day, but it is not enough for students to be able to focus and sit the rest of the day.

The alternative seating you provided for our room provides multiple options for students. Students can wiggle in their seats without putting their safety at risk. Before your donation students only had one option of chairs to sit in. Many students were leaning back in their chairs and students often fell backwards. These seats allow students to move and lean without the risk of falling over. Thank you again for thinking of our students!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Muller

  • Catch and Release!

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for donating to our project! The impact is tremendous. Students were able to bring science to life. We have watched our trout as eggs, alevin, and now turn into fry.

Students have learned about a Rainbow Trout's life cycle, their natural habitat, and their anatomy. They have learned how our aquarium mimics their natural habitat. They have learned how to measure the Ph balance and levels of ammonia in our tank.

They have learned so much and we are not even done! We are going to take a field trip to release our Rainbow Trout into their natural habitat at Lake Casitas. We are very excited. We truly our tankful for all you have done in bringing this program to our school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Muller

  • Release Energy Without Distraction!

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

We are so thankful for your contribution towards our classroom. When students are able to see that strangers are so giving, it really makes an impact on their outlook.

I was able to order stationary bike pedals for under student desks. These help students with high energy focus on tasks. I have many students who usually fidget with items in their hand, tap pencils, and kick their neighbors. These are the students who love the pedals. It helps them channel their energy.

Students were very excited when they saw the materials. I have one students who is constantly out of his seat and talking to his friends. After giving him the pedals he was able to complete a silent reading task without having to walk around. He actually came up to me after the task and said how much he really enjoyed his book. Thank you again for investing in my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Muller

The supplies I am requesting will make a world of a difference in my classroom! I am requesting 5 stationary bike pedal sets for students to use under their desk. My students are fifth graders, either nine or ten years old. I mention their age, because as educators we often forget that our students are so young. Children are full of energy and need an outlet for this. I know that I am a grown adult and like to be active. When I attend a training where I have to sit all day, it is rather hard for me. So imagine our students! I am a teacher who believes in active learning, allowing my students to get up, work in groups, move around, and use manipulatives whenever possible. Though this is true, in fifth grade students do need to work independently at their seats, especially in writing. This is when my students who are high energy struggle. There are about five students in my class who have very high energy levels. Their energy ends up becoming a distraction, such as tapping their pencils, leaning back/balancing in their chairs, tapping their feet, kicking students underneath desks, getting up to walk around, etc. These behaviors are distracting to the whole class. I know that these students can't help it, this is why I want to learn how to channel their energy. Pedals underneath their desk will allow them to focus their energy, release it, and focus on the task at hand. I especially like how this will not make noise or cause distractions to others. It also is discrete and will not bring attention to the students using them.
