Each of my math classes have over thirty students and it can be a daunting and near impossible task to watch each student work out a problem and give feedback on each step. One third of my classes are inclusion classes with a co-teacher. I need iPad minis to maximize learning in my classroom. By using the iPad minis, individual students or groups of students can use apps/programs that will allow them to work the problem allowing for learning to occur before the end of the equation. They will be given instant feedback on each step of the problem. These programs can save each step of problem, timestamp it, and allow me the teacher to check their progress or remotely give additional structure. One of the best ways to learn is to teach. These devices will also allow students to create mini movies of themselves working out how to solve an equation, which would include each step of the process. My students would be working towards the goal and cementing knowledge, critical thinking skills, and team working all in one activity. As my students gain the confidence in their math abilities they will be able to teach each other these skills. As an adolescent developing into an adult these skills will be used throughout their lives.
