When visitors enter my classroom they often have to look around for a few minutes to find me. Why? I'm usually sitting next to my students in their favorite way to learn: centers. 'Center' learning has been the single, best thing that has increased my students' achievement this school year. The centers and materials on this list will be used to engage students in learning math and reading while having fun. They promote independence. When students are learning in centers they have to develop problem-solving skills as they work without a teacher. They promote social skills. Students rely on conversations with others as they work together in a center. They also promote fun! Centers provide students with a way to interact with content in ways that traditional teaching methods lack. I choose some fun and new centers for my students. They are listed as follows: Match & Sort Language Quickies, Roll & Read Phonics Games, Math Equivalency Puzzles, Match & Sort Language Skills Quickies, Story Wands, and Fishing for Sight-Words - Level 1. I also chose some math materials and manipulatives that i feel will be beneficial for taking my students to the next level in understanding math concepts. They are listed as follows: Magnetic Math Manipulatives Library, Number Line Math Activity Chart, Fraction Number Lines Write & Wipe Boards - Set of 30, Giant Magnetic Write & Wipe Number Lines - Whole Numbers.
