  • Basic Supplies Mean Ultimate Success!

    Funded Dec 6, 2024

Thank you so much for supporting my students and I. Your donation allowed me to provide basic materials to ensure the success of my students. The skills taught will last them a lifetime and ensure their success not only now but in their adult lives as well. The dividers, folders, and sheet protectors help them to become organized which is a basic skill they will need later in life. The board games are games that teach the basic skills of turn taking and sharing. Sharing and turn taking are skills that we as adults use everyday. Thanks again for your contribution!”

  • Celebrate Me!

    Funded Dec 28, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to my project. Your contribution allowed my students to celebrate Black History month in a positive manner. The students were thrilled to receive books and other items that highlighted individuals that looked similar to them. Representation matters! These items will last throughout the year and will serve as a constant reminder that they too can achieve amazing things. It is so heartwarming to hear my students say I can be the first African American female president or I can go to the moon like Mae Jemison. Thank you so much for your support!”

  • Getting Artsy for Autism Acceptance and Awareness!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you for helping Stevenson School celebrate Autism Awareness. Our entire school was eager to receive their seeds and flower pots. The stickers and pencils were an added bonus. These items allowed my students to engage in a fun activity that also had a purpose.

Autism is much more common than most people think. Furthermore there are so many negative stereotypes that exist regarding Autism. My goal with this project was to create a more positive view of autism. Thank you for helping me achieve this goal!”

  • Marvelous Mondays

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

Your generosity allowed me to provide items to my students every Monday. Very often I was also able to include my colleagues in the giveaway as well. Throughout the building there was positive conversation about "I wonder what next Monday will bring" by creating this positive energy, everyone seemed to be more cheerful and energetic on Mondays. The engagement in my activities on Mondays greatly increased due to providing these incentives. Thank you for allowing me and my school family to have marvelous Mondays! looking forward to many more!”

  • Good Grief, Good Mourning!

    Funded May 14, 2023

Grief is a tough topic to discuss with anyone. The topic is even more difficult due to the age of my students.

Our school community was impacted by the sudden loss of one of our students. This project provided materials for students to honor his memory. The stones were used to create memorial rocks. Peers wrote messages on the stones. Students had the option to give the stones to the family of the deceased or keep them as a reminder that memories are forever. The family was so grateful for the stones received.

During the creation of the stones, students also utilized the snacks as comfort items. The books allowed me to provide emotional support and techniques to the students.

Thanks to your support I was able to support my students with the grieving process. The resources will continue to be available to my students so that they can also be supported long term. Thank you for helping me support my students during this difficult time”

  • The Calm After the Storm

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

Thank you so much for your support. My students are struggling to adjust to our "new normal". Many days my colleagues and I can not provide book lessons because our students' social emotional status is altered. Students need time to relax and refocus. The items in this project allowed me to create a very peaceful and relaxing setting. The Play-dough is a student favorite! Students also enjoy listening to the calming music via the personal CD players. I have seen a positive change in my students after they engage in the calming activities.

Thank you for helping me to be the calm after the storm!”

  • It's OK to Be Different

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you for supporting my scholars. Your donation has allowed us to celebrate a different diversity group each month. Students are eager to look at the bulletin boards and engage in a monthly competition centered around a particular diversity group. Many of my students do not realize that they are learning because they are having so much fun. It has been a pleasure to watch them work to create their own masterpieces. My students were invited to the alderman's office to showcase their creations. Your donation helped to make this possible. My students have learned that diversity is not limited to just black and white but instead all types of races, ethnicities, gender identity, sexual orientations, ages, social classes, physical abilities or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs. This is a lesson that will stay with them throughout their lives. They now understand, it's OK, and even cool to be different!”

  • Inspire and Use Strategies for a Better World

    Funded Sep 22, 2021

Thank you for supporting my students. Your donation allowed me to provide posters and other motivational items to remind our scholars just how amazing they are. When students are having a difficult day I can refer them to the amazing posters that provide words of wisdom. It is my believe that by students viewing these items on a regular basis that the messages will become engrained in their minds. It is my job as an elementary school teacher to lay the foundation for them to create and inspire a better world. Thank you for helping me fulfill this mission!”

  • See it-- Believe It!

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

My previous work space was boring and uninspiring. By adding inspirational posters and affirmations, the space was transformed. Students are eager to come in. They are excited to read the affirmations. I have seen their affect instantly shift from negative to positive. Sometimes when a student is upset I don't have to say anything. I simply let them look around the room and soak in all the positivity!

I am grateful to you for inspiring my students in a difficult time. The pandemic has damaged their social emotional status and with this project I am able to create a safe positive space!!”

I work in a Chicago Public School where we have a large diverse learner and ELL population. We are located on the south side of Chicago and are affected by the high crime rate present in Chicago. Additionally 95% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. Ninety eight percent of our student are considered a minority in terms of their ethnicity. Despite all of these characteristics that put them at risk, my students are energetic, intelligent scholars who will go on to achieve excellence.
