Our collective classroom consists on 6th-8th graders with mild to moderate cognitive disabilities. My students are amazing, hard working middle school students. Our day starts with a student led executive functioning activity. Afterwards, we split into small reading groups based on individual student's reading ability levels. We have the same type of instruction during math. We also participate in fun science experiments. Our cover picture is our science experiment for the school wide Science Fair. My students are learning to be independent young adults. They even have jobs in the classroom such as Tech Assistant, Teacher Assistant, Transition Leader, and Morning Binder Leader. These jobs help our classroom run smoothly and prepare students to transition to high school. My goal is to provide my students with opportunities in my classroom that will prepare them to be productive and independent adults.
