Funded Jan 15, 2025Thanks to your generosity I was able to create new learning center as well brand new centers. These new centers has enabled the students to complete the task's independently. In some instances they encourage and help each other. This has allowed minimal interruptions while I am working with a small group.
They now have the proper resources to reinforce and practice skills that have been taught during lessons. In the short time that I have introduced these new centers I have seen a confidence in some of the scholars that wasn't there before. Many of the skills they are practicing are being transferred over to our lessons.”

Funded Oct 19, 2023Thank you so much for your donations. Fun Friday has been really fun. The kids are more engaged with one another no matter if they speak the same language or not. Playing games is always fun.
Also, we have been able to make cute projects and more engaging activities to go with the lessons. Before the lessons required just a written response. With the new materials that were sent I was able to implement different activities. Some of the activities include creating a poetry notebooks, their own calendar and weather graph, a color, cut and sort activities.”

Funded Aug 31, 2021Thank you so much for the donations to purchase Scholastic News for my eager to learn first graders. This years class has been amazing as all the majority of the kids want to do is learn. When they were initially introduced to the magazine they were not sure what to do with the copy. "What in the world is this" is what I heard. After I showed them some 'grownup' magazines like Time and National Geographic they were so excited that they had their very own magazine to read. While we read our first copy about igloos every student, who are on different levels, were all engaged during the reading. Kids who normally do not want to try to read raised their hands. They asked questions wanting to know more about igloos. A couple of the kids went home and even Googled more information about igloos. They loved the activities at the end. I am glad that they enjoyed the magazine as much as I did when I was their age.”

Can You Hear Me Now, Again?
Funded Mar 5, 2021I simply cannot thank you enough for your generosity. The students were super surprised when we opened up the box of headphones together. After unwrapping the headphones, going through how to use them and take care of them, the scholars got right to work on their devices.
As soon as they logged into their accounts I immediately noticed the focus on the lessons being taught. I gave them 20 minutes to do the math lessons. You could hear a pin drop. Over the past few months the data that I get from the program shows an improvement in scores for each and every student.”

School Supplies For Special Circumstances
Funded Sep 30, 2020I can't thank you enough for your generosity, especially in these trying times. The supplies made it easier for both the students and myself to work on skills necessary for 6 year olds that online learning solely cannot provide. My colleagues and I noticed last school year that the kids were having trouble following along on an iPad or a computer. They were missing the fundamentals of learning such as writing. They were struggling using the skills being taught because they are so unfamiliar with typing. Your generosity allowed the kids at home and in school practice their writing skills.”

Funded Oct 24, 2019Thank you so much for funding my Donor's Choose project. Me and my students are very grateful, more than you can know. When they first saw all of the packages they were full of curiosity. Then I opened them up one by one and each time the cheers got louder.
The first things we used were the card stock and the pom poms. The students traced, colored and cut out leaf patterns on the card stock. They were able to "decorate" their fall leaves with sparkles and poms poms. The leaves are now hanging on the classroom door for all to admire. They had a blast designing their own leaves.
They were especially excited to receive the dry erase markers. We do a lot of writing practice using dry erase boards during our phonics program. This is one of the ways that the children love to learn how to spell words.
The pencils are needed more than you know. One of the subjects where the students are engaged in their work is during writing. The pencils are constantly in motion.
I can't wait to use the magnetic letters and the table top easel. These items will allow a more visual and tactile way for my struggling students to learn to read and spell.”

Funded Jan 21, 2019Thank you all so much for your generous contribution. With your help we were able to get basic supplies to enhance the children's learning. I was able to create anchor charts that were easily posted around the room for the students to use to successfully complete their assignments while allowing them to be more independent. They were able to assist in making these charts during lessons by making the charts more interactive. When needed, I was able to pull small groups and use the charts to help the students better understand concepts.
I also was able to create portable learning centers. Each center was geared toward a specific skill that could be practiced during station time. Thanks to the donations the activities were constructed to be more durable and will be able to be used for years to come.”

Can You Hear Me Now?
Funded Mar 27, 2018The scholars were so excited when we received an enormous box from Amazon. When I opened the box and showed them the headphones inside the smiles on their faces were amazing! One of the little girls even said "Tell the people 'Thank you!'" It has been so much easier for the scholars to be able to complete their i-Ready assignments. Before the headphones the children were struggling to successfully complete the reading and math lessons. On certain days we had all 20 going on. You can imagine the noise and the struggles to understand the directions being given. Now that they can understand the directions they are getting scores of 85% or better. This is considered to be 'passing scores' in order to move on to the next lessons.
Not only do I thank you, my students do as well. We thank you a million times!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Cuozzo
