  • Tablets + Kids + Curriculum = 21st Century Ready Students

    Funded Jul 29, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations! In these few months, we have used the tablets in multiple ways that have support student learning. For example, in math, kids use virtual math manipulative to solve problems. In addition, students practice fluency facts. In reading, students use Raz Kids to read and listen to stories. I downloaded various apps to practice sight word recognition and strengthen phonemic awareness. The kids use the tablets to record presentations. When students are working independently, I walk around and record students. Then I play the video back for the class to see themselves learning and working collaboratively.

My classroom is so excited to use the tablets. Students are more engaged and willing to work collaboratively. You made all this possible and we are so grateful for your generosity!”

  • Where It Begins And Ends!

    Funded Dec 9, 2011

Thank you so much for your generosity.Your donations were able to bring safety to our classroom. Before your donation, student learning was continuously interrupted due to slips, or a scrunched up carpet. Now, students can safely learn and complete activities on the carpet. Student learning is organized because their space and bodies are organized in defined space.

Our school's budget was very limited this year. As a growing school, we could only offer a thin carpet. Your donations changed our classroom environment for years to come.

Thank you for your kindness and your impact on the lives of kids.”

  • Can you HEAR this? Success!

    Funded Oct 13, 2010

Thank you so much for you generous donation. Your donations made a great impact! It came at a perfect time. At that point in the year, students were learning to read Star Books and retell the story in approximation. In order to reach this goal, students needed to hear the stories over and over again. With your donation, you made this possible.

During our literacy centers, students are able to independently set-up the listening center to listen to their favorite stories. Afterward, students draw their favorite parts and attempt to write about their favorite parts. Furthermore, we were able to use the headphones with the laptop. Students play phonic games to strengthen their skills in an interactive way.Furthermore, headphones are use to reduce the noise stimulus for students with sensory integration disorder!

Thank you once again! You donations have and will continue to reach many students in the years to come. ”

  • L--I--T--E--R--A : Help Provide a Complete LITERACY Approach

    Funded Feb 1, 2010

Thank you for your support in providing amazing opportunities for the children in our school. We opened in the fall. In our first year, much of our budget has gone to furniture, curriculum and personnel. Our school serves a high-need community. We are so grateful for your generosity. Thank you for giving us literacy games.

With the materials you donated, I was able to initiate ABC Centers. Currently I have centers for ABC recognition, hand writing, vocabulary building, word construction, and blending sounds. The children are excited to take part in the centers. Furthermore, the children are provided a true balanced approach to literacy. It is very exciting to see my students so engaged in game-like activities, after all, it is the best way to learn.

My students have a short attention span, especially during whole group lessons. By breaking up students into small groups, all students can access the materials in a hands on manner. Secondly, one student has really benefited from the Echo Phones. She had difficulties identifying the sounds in a word and recording it on paper. After she started to use the toy phone, she was able to identify the first sound of a word. Her writing became much clearer and her confidence increased.

Lastly, by engaging in these games, my students have had the opportunity to engage in social activities such as turn taking, communicating, increasing vocabulary, negotiating needs and wants, participating in team work to set-up and clean up games, and improving self-regulation skills.

Thank you so much for your generosity. The literacy tools and games you provided will help move all students forward. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sanchez-Lobashov

  • SuperREADERS (Special Ed. Kindergarteners)

    Funded Dec 1, 2009

Thank you for your support in providing ample opportunities for the children in our school. We opened in the fall. In our first year, much of our budget has gone to furniture, curriculum and personnel. Our school serves a high need community and is in dyer need of leveled books. We are so grateful for the 25 books you purchased for us. Currently, teachers stay after school to print, fold, and staple books for students to read.

Learning to read is a long and complex process that is contingent on motivation and practice. Each student requires a set of 8-10 books weekly to practice their skills. I am happy to report that all the students are making progress and moving through reading levels. They were so excited to be able to read colored books. Their motivation has increased and they love to read. Every week, students empty out their book baggies and get new books. With the books you have provided, the rule is : 6 black and white books and 2 color books. The first day, one student hid one of the books she had gotten and came back to the book bin asking for another book. She was so motivated to read the books you purchased that she used problem solving skills to get another.

Thank you so much for your generosity. The gifts of books is priceless and endless. It will support this year's students and next. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sanchez-Lobashov

  • You've Got A Friend (Special Education Kindergarteners)

    Funded Dec 10, 2009

Thank you for your support in providing ample opportunities for the children in our school. We opened in the fall; In our first year, much of our budget has gone to furniture, curriculum and personal. Our school lacks many resources. Thank you for providing necessary resource to provide an environment where children are joyful, independent, and thinkers.

My classroom has twelve students. It is a self contained classroom with students with diverse needs and skills. The children are so joyful and eager to learn. One of our biggest goals in the classroom is to increase social interactions and thus increase expressive and receptive language. I strive to support language and social development in my classroom. However, we had very few resources to support independent interactions among students.

The resources you provided are being used during lunch recess and at the end of the day. The children use the plates and cups to play restaurant. The children talk to each other, and walk around asking what they want to order. They use small clipboards to take down orders. The children LOVE to play with the sand. They interact with their peers to take turns, or call attention to their creation. Conflict often arises, but it provides the best context to model appropriate social behavior. This couldn't have been possible without your generous donation.”
