With many eager minds in the classroom I have to use time wisely and efficiently. I often have my students work in groups to build ideas off of each other, to give constructive feedback, and to ultimately to help each other solve problems. This allows me the time to give each group the assistance they need because they do not only have me as a resource. Osmo will be a valuable, interactive tool that my students could use in a small group. The lessons and activities are easily able to be differentiated for the multi-leveled groups in my classroom. This means I can change the activities to fit the needs of my students so they will be successful, yet challenged, while I am able to assist another group. Our school focus this year is Algebra Readiness. With Osmo on the iPad I can pair students up to practice word work, numbers, and tangrams. The activities are hands-on which creates much needed engagement in these areas. For my students who show interest in building creative structures, this will help give them the opportunity to use their hands while creating a foundation for mathematics needed in, what I see their future in, engineering.
