  • Move To Learn

    Funded Dec 18, 2024

Thank you so much for funding my project!

The students at my school love the bouncy bands and they really help them focus!

The massager will definitely help some of my students pay better attention as well!

Batteries will keep it going all year.

I’m truly touched by all your help to the students at my school.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Stein-Ballow

  • Sensory Solutions for Special Needs Students

    Funded Mar 22, 2017

Thank you for donating to my requests. WIth the bouncy cords on the chairs the students are able to push against it and stay focused during group classroom lessons. A student who has trouble staying in his chair is able to sit longer when he holds the weighted dog. The teachers in the classroom are happy to have more supports to keep their students focused have hooked the fidget toys onto lanyards and the students wear them around their neck when they need something to keep their hands busy during group lessons.

When the students in the class saw the fidgets, they all said "can I have one?" We passed them around the class and let every body try them. The students who really needed them wanted them more than 1 day, while the other students get over it and now they "say oh that's J's fidget."”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Stein-Ballow

Nowadays, school life is increasingly busy, increasingly stimulating, and for many children with deficits in sensory processing increasingly overwhelming! My special students can often feel disorganized in their own minds and bodies and have a difficult time sitting and attending to their teacher the way other students do. My students want to sit and behave the way they see other students do, but they just can't seem to manage this on their own. It is my experience that when provided with the coming sensory input of something weighted on their lap they are able to sit and attend. They are provided with an means of feeling more put together and in control of their bodies. I know my students will be thrilled with their new weighted animals, seat cushions, and fidgets. Feeling calm and comfortable in their own bodies is something every child deserves!!
