Using music during training helps to motivate students and student athletes. During basketball practice, we utilize music for our training and warm-up drills like dribbling, passing and shooting. The students enjoy a variety of types of music and often express how much they enjoy the music playing while working toward their goals. Not only do we use music during physical training, we also learn dance in school. All nine hundred students perform this dance in the schoolyard in front of our parents and for special days throughout the year like Field Day and Carnival Day. I purchased a stereo system years ago and it is on it's last melody. The sound doesn't fill the gymnasium and it's difficult to keep our athletes on task. Our district can't provide sufficient textbooks, let alone music, so we need a new stereo system. New pinnies for practicing drills will also be helpful.
