Axolotl Learning on the Loose!
Funded Oct 29, 2024Introducing Bubbles the axolotl to our classroom has had a remarkable impact on students, sparking their curiosity and engagement. The axolotl, with its unique and fascinating appearance, serves as a living example of biological concepts that might otherwise seem abstract. Students are captivated by observing its behavior and learning about its habitat, diet, and life cycle. This hands-on experience makes lessons more tangible and memorable, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific principles.
Moreover, the presence of an axolotl helps students form a connection to the environment. By caring for the axolotl, students develop a sense of responsibility and empathy towards living creatures. This experience can inspire them to think about broader environmental issues and the importance of conservation. The joy and excitement that students feel when interacting with the axolotl create a positive and dynamic learning atmosphere, making science class a highlight of their day.
Students are now taking ownership of their class pet. AP Environmental science students are designing worm farms that will serve as Bubbles' food source for the rest of the year.
This has only been made possible by generous donors like you. Thank you for the impact you've had on our students.”
