Developing Lifelong Readers
Funded Jul 17, 2024I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous donation . Your support has made a profound impact on both their learning experience and their confidence as young readers. Many of our students are navigating the challenge of learning English while still mastering literacy in their native language. The books you provided have created a bridge between these two worlds, offering a sense of familiarity and comfort while also fostering a love for reading. For some students, it was the first time they held a book in their native language—an experience that not only boosted their self-esteem but also helped them make connections between the languages they speak and the new language they are learning.
These books have become treasured resources in our classroom, sparking excitement and engagement among students who were previously hesitant to pick up a book. By reading in their native language, they are strengthening their overall literacy skills, which in turn supports their progress in English. This has been especially important for students who may struggle with the challenges of learning a second language. The impact of these books has been felt far beyond the classroom walls, as students bring their newfound love of reading home to share with their families.
The smiles on their faces when they discover stories that reflect their own cultures and experiences are truly priceless. Your contribution has opened doors for these young learners, helping them develop not only academically but also as confident, curious, and motivated students.
I am incredibly thankful for your generosity. The books you donated have enriched their education in ways that will have lasting effects on their growth and development. Thank you for helping us create an inclusive, supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.”

Building Readers
Funded Dec 4, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students LOVE the new books and have already enjoyed many of them. They have been able to add much more desirable books to their independent reading bags and are much more engaged during reading time. These books have increased their confidence as readers and I look forward to observing their growth.
My spanish speaking students have benefited exponentially from the addition of Spanish graphic novels to our classroom library. They were so excited to see these books in my library and have loved being able to read the same popular books as their peers, but in Spanish. Access to these books has impacted them so much I hope to add more of these books to my classroom library in the near future.
Thank you again for you generous donation and support.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. The books you donated have already been put to good use and will continue to support learning all year long. One of the things I love most about Kindergarten is watching and supporting the students' reading development. They are so proud of themselves when they begin to read independently and they can't wait to practice and show off their new found skills. Having a variety of books available at a variety of reading levels is crucial. The students also LOVE being able to independently read "real" books, so having lower leveled readers that look like "real" books is very important.
These leveled books will be used during independent reading time, buddy reading time, and will also be available to the students in our classroom library. Since the students' reading abilities develop at different rates it is very important to have a variety of levels available, your donation has helped to make this possible. The simple text in Level A books help to build confidence and support early independent readers while the more advanced text in Level E books help build more advanced reading skills.
I love reading and hope to develop a love of reading in each of my students. I can't thank you enough for helping to support our classroom and truly appreciate your donation.”

Funded May 21, 2017Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. The materials you donated have already been put to good use and will continue to support our learning all year long. The students absolutely love the magnifying glasses and safety glasses. They now feel like real scientists. The first day I put them out I had to create a waiting list and all of the students were on it! They couldn't wait to try them out. We are currently studying trees and the students have used the magnifying glasses, inside and outside, to get a closer look at bark and leaves. They are extremely interested in looking at the veins and small parts of the leaves. I have not introduced some of the other science materials yet but I know they will be just as excited to use those. The magnifying glasses and safety glasses will continue to support our science discoveries as we delve into new topics throughout the year.
The students also love having a comfy place to sit and look at a good book. Many students frequent our class library and the bean bag chairs are used constantly throughout the day. They are also large enough for two students to share and I have spied many students sitting down with a buddy to enjoy a book together. Many of my students have a limited exposure to books at home so it is wonderful to see them truly enjoying reading. The new CD player for the listening center has also been used a lot already. Students love having the opportunity to sit and listen to a story. I know these additions will help build a love of reading in each one of my students.
I can't thank you enough for helping to support our classroom and truly appreciate your donation.”
