Help Equip My Scholars Part 3
Funded Sep 17, 2010I assure you that the material you are helping provide to my classrooms will be judiciously used. and that they will serve the intended purpose.
with dedicated donors such as your organization, our young scholars will get a better education. last year, my student could not get this most needed material to assist them in facilitating the learning process. with these calculators in our classrooms, my students will not only save time in calculations but also learn many of the concepts through graphs and charts.
On behalf of my students and myself, I thank you so much for supporting the effort to improve the quality of the education of our young scholars.”

Help Equip My Scholars Part 2
Funded Sep 10, 2010I appreciate greatly Your commitment to helping improve the quality of our education, with these very needed calculators that you are putting in the hands of my students will have lasting impacts on many lives. Most of the students hat I teach cannot afford to purchase this much needed and required tool. In the AP Calculus class and Exam, In the Algebra 2 and Trigonometry class, it is a huge disadvantage not to have a graphing calculator. Some of my students are at an unfair disadvantage because of the lack of this tool. You are helping bring fairness in the system with regard to your funding of this piece of equipment. For that, on behalf of my students and myself, I say thank you very much; and rest assured that this calculator will be used for the purpose for which it is requested and funded.”

Students Learn Better With the Help of Technology
Funded Dec 8, 2009It is a breath of fresh air to have this equipment in my classroom. My students can not only visualize the concepts I explain to them, but they are also participating more actively in the lessons by spelling out possible scenarios. My lessons are now clearer as a result of this equipment. It has helped eliminate the useless comments about how my handwriting on the board, to actually focusing on understanding the concepts of the lesson.
In my calculus class, which involves a lot of interpretations of graphs, is now more efficient in a sense that I prepare most of the graphs and have them ready for analysis; therefore maximizing the instruction and analysis time, and minimizing the time it takes to actually draw each graph and then analyze it. For the lessons that involve learning graphing skills, I use the TI 84 software, the Geometer's Sketchpad, and the mathematica player. I have been amazed by, without being surprised at, the amount of conceptual mastery that my students are demonstrating since we started using this equipment to support instruction in our classrooms. I remember going over the photoelectric effect to explain the particle nature of light; and how amazed and excited the students were in observing how different metals are affected by different wave lengths, using a mathematica player demonstration project. The lesson was even shorter than expected with the students as they were able to quickly understand all the concepts related to photoelectric effect. These are experiences that I would not trade for anything during my teaching career. Another aspect of the assistance that this equipment is providing my students is that some of them, who use to claim that they cannot see clearly what is on the board, are now able to sit by the computer. If necessary, I can also maximize the display for every student's convenience. Also, the amount of paperwork has been reduced to a bare minimum. The worksheets are now displayed in digital forms as opposed to handouts, which is an advantage to all stakeholders in the education of these scholars.
On my end, I get to spend most of my time preparing and delivering my lessons; which have become more efficient than they were before I started to use this equipment. For the students, this equipment has almost eliminated the amount of paperwork that they carry with them to and from my classrooms. As for the administration, this will result in the saving of resources which can now be devoted to serving the students better in other areas. Dear donors, you have helped and will continue to help change students perspective to learning for the better; and for this, I sincerely thank you. ”
