  • Headphones to Support Attention to Online Lessons

    Funded Sep 1, 2020

Elementy school students in busy apartments are using their new headphones to help maintain their attention to task. After receiving your generous gift, I began mailing individual headphones to our students' homes. These headphones allow us to buffer the sound of TVs, crying children, adults talking, barking dogs etc. etc. etc. during our sesssion. Not only are our students using their new headphones for my sessions, but they are using them for their other school lessons and activities. The effects of these headphones were immediate, as students attention to task improved rite away. It was like night and day. Your gift has helped our students to focus more of their cognitive ability on the lesson which allows for their smarts to shine so bright. Thank you very much for caring about our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B

  • Let's Get Social & Emotional!

    Funded Nov 1, 2019

Thank you, Thank You, Thank You.

I thought I was greatful when I recieved the items, but my gratitude increased when I saw how much fun the students were having while using these resources. The students are encouraged to answer hard questions when they come out of that big blue and red box. Their eagerness to learn shoots up when they are rolling and pressing into colored and scented dough. Connecting puzzle pieces with pictures and written social emotional senarios has encouraged improved flexible thinking and creativity. Resources do make a difference.

Please know that these items you gifted are used and shared and appreciated.

We will contiue to learn about emotions and how to become better social citizens in ways that are fun and accessible to all.

We appeciate your care and effort and wish you all the best.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. B

I provide social-emotional learning to a group of amazing elementary school children who possess unlimited potential for greatness. My students are on the autism spectrum, have significant cognitive delays, are severely emotionally challenged, are sensory impaired, hearing impaired and/or are multiply disabled. My school is located in a low-income neighborhood and all of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. My colleagues and I try our best to be creative with what we have, in our attempts to balance the playing field for our students. We strive to provide our students with experiences and opportunities that will expand their idea of what is possible for their future and to communicate to our students, that they are valued.
