A Multi-Modality Approach to Learning!
Funded Dec 3, 2019What an amazing holiday season this was with your generous donations! Ironically, right before the Christmas break, I was teaching a lesson on rhyming using holiday words, and I had to use my dry-erase markers on my table and clean them off each time I wrote with a Clorox marker. How exciting it's going to be to have my very own dry-erase table! (I'm [im]patiently waiting for it to be put together!)
Now, with the new year, I was just able to begin using my new Chromebook to show visual representations and videos of the 'Abominable Snowman.' My 4th and 5th grade students LOVED making connections between 'fact/fiction' and learning about the legend of the Yeti.
These simple tools make learning so much fun for the students, and keep lessons and activities hands on and engaging!
As always, your generosity and willingness to help educators teach to our highest capacity is appreciated.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Biancamano

Funded Aug 13, 2019These daily language journals are a HUGE hit with my speech students! They are absolutely loving the responsibility of being in charge of their own books and they get disappointed any time I say we are not working in our language journals that day.
It may seem like this donation was a simple request, but it truly has been a game changer. With the lack of funding in our district, we are not provided with paper for copies unless we purchase it ourselves; therefore, with your generous donation, I am still able to meet the ever-growing needs of my students while targeting their individual speech and language goals.
"Thank you" just isn't enough, but it's a start.
We appreciate you and your contribution.”

Mrs. Biancamano

Funded Jul 31, 2019I cannot even begin to describe the excitement on my students' faces when they saw the REAL cash-register they will be using to successfully run and operate our new school store, "The Supply Box!"
The cash register is going to allow for our life-skills students to learn the fundamental skills of math, social/pragmatic language, organization, and so much more! We are unbelievably excited to begin this school store endeavor to help not only our life-skills students, but also to help our entire school population of students to be prepared with the materials they need every day in school.
With your help and your generous donation, we were able to turn our dream into a reality. A little bit has really gone a long way and we are eternally grateful for your support.
Saying "thank you" really isn't enough, but it's a start - so THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for making every day a great day of teaching and learning. We truly appreciate you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Biancamano
Speech and Language Materials Galore!
Funded May 12, 2019To some, simple classroom materials like paper and pencils are not even a thought. Unfortunately, the school district that I am employed by does not provide the teachers with such things, and we often find ourselves reaching into our own pockets on a weekly (sometimes daily!) basis to help make learning possible in our classrooms.
Fortunately, with the help of you incredible individuals, we are able to supplement our classrooms with materials with your gracious donations. The speech and language books for my entire caseload of 4th and 5th grade students is going to allow EVERY individual student their own language learning book and I am confident that it will help them reach their speech goals faster. I also truly feel that it will assist them on the upcoming state assessments.
A little bit has really gone a long way in my speech room and we are eternally grateful for your support. Saying "thank you" really isn't enough, but it's a start - so THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for making every day a great day of teaching and learning. We truly appreciate you!”

Funded May 13, 2019To some, simple classroom materials like paper and pencils are not even a thought. It is automatically assumed that parents or districts will provide such things for the children in order to ensure a smooth educational experience. Unfortunately, the school district that I am employed by does not provide the teachers with such things, and we often find ourselves reaching into our own pockets on a weekly (sometimes daily!) basis to help make learning possible in our classrooms. We provide notebooks, pencils, paper, expo markers, post its, and SO much more so that we can make the biggest impact on our students' education without penalizing them for not bringing in their own materials.
Fortunately, with the help of you incredible individuals, we are able to supplement our classrooms with materials with your gracious donations. A little bit has really gone a long way in my speech room and we are eternally grateful for your support.
Saying "thank you" really isn't enough, but it's a start - so THANK YOU, from the bottom of our hearts, for making every day a great day of teaching and learning. We truly appreciate you!”

Funded Dec 27, 2018This request for file folders and a locking file cabinet may not have been your typical "donor's choose" project, but the impact it is having in my speech room is tremendous! Being able to safely secure my scholar's individualized education programs allows me to keep all of their personal information confidential without risking any HIPPA violations.
Additionally, the file folders have clearly come in handy inside the filing cabinet, but also, they have allowed me to better utilize the storage systems that I have purchased myself for my students to be able to access their own work, independently. In doing so, they are unknowingly learning an executive functioning skill -- alphabetical order -- when they have to find their name in a sea of others. They are also learning to be more independent, as they are responsible for filing their speech work into their folders as necessary.
Donors like you have allowed my speech room to function more efficiently. Unfortunately my school district does not have the means to provide our staff with the necessary materials to facilitate a positive, student-friendly environment in each classroom; therefore, wonderful people like YOU allow us to meet the needs of each child in our classroom/office space.
We are forever grateful for you and all that you are doing to make our school a better place. "Thank you" just isn't enough.”

Flexible Learning Needs in the Speech Room!
Funded Nov 9, 2018It has only been a few days since my students and I received our 'donors choose' package, and the impact has already been outstanding! My 4th and 5th grade students who are diagnosed with ADHD have had the most success with our new Kick-Bands at the bottom of the chairs; but EVERYONE has commented on how they're providing a positive experience while they're working during speech sessions.
Our new wobble chair is also a huge hit! In order to use it, it has to be earned with respect and good behavior, so not only is it helping with sensory needs, but it's helping with behavior too! Talk about a win-win situation all around!!
And last but not least, the snacks! My students are so excited to have a full snack bin filled with their favorites. They are eagerly working to earn their "Speech Bucks" every session just so they have the opportunity to choose their reward.
As always, we are thankful for each and every one of you who donated to our speech room Donors Choose project! "Thank you" just isn't enough”

Revolutionizing Speech-Language Therapy with iPads
Funded May 8, 2018"Thank you" really does not begin to express my gratitude for your contribution in my speech room. With the use of our new devices, I can now expand my lessons to include pictures, videos and sound clips. I am also able to utilize various free apps that target the speech objectives which are targeted in my room: articulation, language, pragmatics, etc.
My students are beyond excited to incorporate technology in our classroom, especially those who do not have access to such things at home.
Again, THANK YOU for making this a possibility for us; we appreciate you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Biancamano
