Emotions Matter
Funded Feb 23, 2021I want to thank you for your generous donations that allowed our class to build a Social-Emotional Library. Over the last 18 months our children have been through so much and it has been so wonderful for them to have an area of the classroom devoted to their social-emotional well being. Here, students can relax on a beanbag chair or on a seat cushion and select a book in which they see characters who have feelings and emotions just like them! They can read these books on their own, with a partner or even bring them home to share with a family member. Thank you for allowing my students an opportunity to further develop and nurture their social-emotioal well being. It is my hope that these books continue to be part of their classroom lives and serve as a safe space for them to feel emotions and validate how they are feeling in these unprecedented times.”
With gratitude,
Ms. DiPietrantonio

Funded Jun 2, 2020Thank you so much for you generous support of my project. Your generosity has allowed my students to receive books on topics that are of high interest to them. They now have books in their hands about the solar system, American symbols and sports. They also now have access to picture books that will fuel their creativity during Writing Workshop.
DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read) is such an important time in our classroom. Each day we set aside 20 minutes for the students to read books that interest them. During this time they have flexibility in seating, grouping and book selection. It is an opportunity for them to develop a love of reading that hopefully will far surpass their time in a classroom.
Once again, I want to thank you for putting books in the hands of my curious, eager learners. I know this gift will their grow their love of reading.”
With gratitude,
Ms. DiPietrantonio
Add Some Color to Our Learning!
Funded Jul 3, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation that has allowed my classroom to now have a color printer. As a dual language teacher I can express to you how important pictures are to the learning of my students. The use of color pictures and photographs makes the classroom engaging and fun. Students feel encouraged and supported when they look around and see vibrant images reflective of their learning.
I have used the color printer to attach images to math vocabulary. This helps the students see examples of the math words they are expected to know and use throughout math lessons. Additionally, the color printer has helped to make our classroom library vibrant and inviting. I want my students to enjoy reading and to be able to go to a library that is organized and colorful. This will help them to select books that interest them and motivates them to read. As second language learners, the students always benefit from having visual support across the classroom. When these images are in color it helps them to see the details and to make connections to other words, vocabulary or content they have learned.
It is always so wonderful to see the students' reactions when I post a new chart, labels, or vocabulary around the room. They are excited and motivated to learn more about whatever topic it relates too. I have received multiple comments from other students who want to come and look around our classroom and wish that their classrooms looked similar.
Thank you again for your generous donation and for making a contribution to student learning and engagement.”

Ms. DiPietrantonio
