We are a school district-owned mental health program that serves the mental health needs of students and families in a multi-county area while serving their academic needs. We have students with lots of energy. I'm a firm believer in keeping the focus on what's really important: the students. We are providing these flexible seating options so they are making choices to succeed in class. Our classroom environments should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. With the donations, we are able to have more access to variety of flexible seating and students are able to make a choice of what they prefer. My Project We are providing flexible seating options like footrests, bean bag chairs, exercise balls, stools, and wobble chairs so they can make the right choices to succeed in class. By using the desk swing, balls, etc., students control their energy while completing their academics, as they get help with their mental health. Having these options would keep their mind off the energy inside and focus on the task at hand. Some kids really rise to the occasion and show you that they CAN choose good “working spots” when given the freedom to do so! Comfortable Students = Student Engagement! Classroom Ownership = Student Engagement! Empowering Choice = Student Engagement! Studies have shown that the student’s attitudes towards school and learning told the whole reason for success in their career as a scholar!
