A new classroom library will provide my students with opportunities to choose books to read independently or with a partner. Students can recognize new English vocabulary in their new books. Rereading books that we have shared together on the carpet is a favorite activity in our classroom. As students browse the classroom library, they'll say, "Mrs. Hamilton, I found the word friend in my book!" or "I know this story!" or "Here's a new Pete the Cat book!" Readers become better readers by reading, and a new classroom library would provide opportunities for my students to practice their new literacy skills.
