Calm, Cool, & Collected
Funded Sep 6, 2023My students are loving the "make over" that our room got with new furniture! They love the new soft and spacious carpet. It also has separate hexagons to space students out.
My students also like the rolling chart stand. Now we can move the pocket chart for learning our sounds and spelling around the room for everyone to see it better. The rolling cart for supplies means we have less supplies cluttering up our horseshoe table and we can have more room for whiteboards, magnet tiles, and books. The tabletop easel makes it easier to work with small groups at the table and to model writing and decoding words.
My students were so excited when the boxes arrived, wondering what was inside. They were even more excited when the new carpet was unrolled and ready for use! Students love to work back on the carpet for a change of pace after sitting in desks most of the day. Flexible seating allows students with ADHD to focus better at times.
This project impacted student learning by providing a calming learning space. The cool colors and soft feel of the carpet helps calm some of my students with anxiety and ADHD so they can focus more. The rolling cart and chart stand help make my classroom more flexible so we can move around the room more. This also helps with attention and focus. Keeping the materials off the table, but still close by helps with focus by creating a more organized and less cluttered work environment. Overall, this is all helping me to be a more effective and organized teacher and to help provide a better learning atmosphere for all of my students.”

Funded Mar 3, 2021Thank you so much for the funds to purchase digital materials for my remote students! With your help, I am providing quality educational experiences to students who are remotely learning this year. The digital materials help make the remote learning more manageable and more fun!
My students especially love the Boom Cards - these cards make learning seem more like a game! The cards self-check, so the students get immediate reinforcement or the chance to fix-up what they did wrong. My students love the ding noise of getting a slide correct. The students can also play the link to the cards over and over to practice skills - the multiplication and division ones are like virtual flashcards.
The digital math slides I have purchased help me teach fractions and division concepts to my students. These slides help students set up their math problems so I can check their work and see where they need additional help. Other math materials have drag and drop pieces to simulate the hands-on manipulatives we'd use in the classroom.
Again, thank you so much for the money to purchase Teacher Pay Teachers remote learning materials. This is making such a difference for my students as we learn during a pandemic.”

Funded Nov 12, 2020Thank you so much for the funds to purchase digital materials for my remote students! With your help, I am providing quality educational experiences to students who are remotely learning this year. The digital materials help make the remote learning more manageable and more fun!
Math activities purchased have boxes to drag and templates set up to let us learn long division and multiplication. We even got fun clipart to work on our narrative writing and write about how a turkey escaped being Thanksgiving dinner! My students especially love the Boom Cards I'm purchasing - these cards make learning seem more like a game! They self-check, so the students get immediate reinforcement or the chance to fix-up what they did wrong. They love the ding noise of getting a slide correct.

Funded Oct 26, 2012This is just a small token of my gratitude and appreciation for your donation to my classroom. The easel that your donations purchased is having an impact on my students' learning. I am able to do small group lessons back at the carpet in a more effective manner. I can record students' ideas on the easel - either on the white board or chart paper. We can create anchor charts of new concepts on the chart paper, and then display these charts as posters around the room. In addition, since the easel has wheels, I can roll it to other parts of the room as needed. For example, we did a shared writing lesson at the carpet. Then, later, I rolled the easel to the front of the room so the students could reference the example as they wrote from their desks.
Furniture like this easel make lessons more effective, but I do not personally have the money to purchase large items like this. In these hard economic times, my district does not have money for "extras" like this easel. I truly appreciate being able to enhance my lessons in this way. I would not have been able to get this easel without your support.”

Digitize Our Reading And Writing
Funded Oct 26, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donation! The students are so excited to be able to use the computer from any point in the room! The wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, presenter, and speakers let us use the computer with the projector. We do not have to run back to the back corner of the room to type or click through presentations now. This lets me interact more fully with the students. We are now able to sit together and type a shared document by passing the mouse and keyboard around the table.
In these hard economic times, it is difficult to procure materials for the classroom. These resources enrich our language and reading lessons. Plus, the students are learning valuable computer skills. Many of my students are from families that cannot afford to have a computer or Internet access at home. So, because of your generosity, they are able to work on their computer skills at school. We are able to make the most of the one computer in the classroom.
Thank you again so much for your donations which enabled the purchase of these materials.”

Funded Jan 5, 2011Thank you so much for donating to my project Reading Round-Up. The money you donated has purchased a horseshoe-shaped table for my classroom. The horseshoe shape enables me to have closer contact with all of my students while we are reading and discussing books. This table will allow for more teacher interaction and direction throughout lessons and discussions because I am within "tapping" distance of all of the students!
This table is considered an "extra" for my room, even though it greatly changes and enhances instruction. Without your help and support, I would never get a table like this for my classroom.
The students are extremely excited about this table. We will use it for years to come to enhance reading intervention in my classroom.”

Picture This: Using Picture Books to Increase Reading
Funded May 27, 2010This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The book sets with CDs are a wonderful addition to my intervention curriculum. The students enjoy reading the real books with color pictures. They also like the opportunity to listen to the books on the CD and read along. Using the CDs with the books at my listening station gives me a chance to work one-on-one with a student while the other students are engaged in real literacy work of reading along with the CD. Since there are multiple copies of the books, the students do not have to share a book, which can lead to behavior problems. This gives me uninterrupted time with the student I am assessing or conferencing with.
With state finances the way they are and cutbacks occurring everywhere in education, this donation was greatly appreciated. It gave me the chance to bring some new materials into my classroom, helping to interest my struggling readers in reading.
Thank you for your generosity!”

Mrs. Henneise
