Students will be learning about electrical currents this year during their science classes. Students will also be learning about the history of stained glass, and how it was used in churches to educate the illiterate population, during Medieval Times. Why not combine the two lessons to develop an amazing artwork? Through this art project, students will learn basic wiring techniques to power their artistic lamp, providing an application for the knowledge they are gaining in their science class. Students will additionally learn about the history and functions of stained glass, and then create their own glass artwork using melted acrylic beads, already purchased for the classroom. Students' acrylic "stained glass" works will be used to form the lamp shade for their lamp, allowing their artwork to literally shine bright in the darkness.
