This magazine pairs current event pieces with practical math questions. Students enjoy reading the articles and solving the problems as they can see how this work will help them in the future. Improving their math and reading skills with Scholastic Math Magazines prepares them for these courses! For example, an article in the most sample issue we received chronicled the "Death of the Headphone Jack" in the iPhone 7. My students are OBSESSED with phones so they calculated if removing the headphone jack was a worthwhile change as Apple said battery life increased. My students said the battery life did not increase enough to get rid of the headphone jack and do not want to buy the iPhone 7. This is consumer math at work! Now they want more issues of Scholastic Math Magazine so they can read, calculate, and learn more about the world around them. Can you help?
