Creating Thinkers in the Math Classroom
Funded Mar 8, 2024Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. Since the start of school, my students have been working at the vertical, non-permanent writing surfaces - thanks to you. I have witnessed students be more engaged in the math, and I have witnessed them willingly take risks with developing strategies to tackle problems.
In my Pre-Calculus class, my students regularly group themselves and move to one of these writing stations to collaborate during their practice assignments. These students are editing each other's strategies and modifying their understanding because they are able to easily revise and correct their work on the whiteboards.
In my freshmen Geometry classes, my students are staying on tasks and staying focused because they are standing up at the boards. It has also been fun watching them compete to be the "scribe" (the student with the marker).
The vertical, non-permanent writing surfaces have changed my classroom by increasing the amount of engagement and collaboration among students. Words cannot express the appreciation I have for your support.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jordan

Funded Feb 23, 2024I cannot begin to express my excitement when this project was completely funded! When the dry-erase board was installed, my students were begging to write on it. Several months later, this excitement is still present. They frequently ask, "are we using the boards today?" Since implementing the boards into my instruction, I have witnessed my students engagement level and willingness to take risks increase greatly. The students are engaging in productive and thoughtful discourse.
The non-permanent surfaces have had a large impact in my students willingness to participate in a math lesson, which has positively impacted the amount they have learned. Thank you for believing in my students!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Jordan

Building a Thinking Classroom
Funded Feb 19, 2024I cannot begin to express my excitement when this project was completely funded! When the dry-erase table was set up, the kids were immediately fascinated, and some students were begging to come work with me for small group instruction because they wanted to write on the table. Several months later, this excitement is still present. Now, instead of students begrudgingly walking to small group, my students are asking when it is their turn, and it is because of the table.
The students love the dry erase boards, as well! They frequently ask, "are we using the boards today?" Since installing and implementing the boards into my instruction, I have witnessed my students engagement level and willingness to take risks increase greatly. The students are engaging in productive and thoughtful discourse.
