Mid Year Basics
Funded May 8, 2024Thank you so much for donating to this project. I needed the shelves to store all of my reading materials by grade level so the students could access the material easier. To be honest when I first opened the boxes the students were not impressed. All they saw were boxes with parts and pieces that needed to be put together. So they were a little hesitant to be excited or happy. once the custodian came in and helped get everything together, each student wanted to pick which drawer their class used.
I was so happy to see them engaged and wanting to take ownership of their materials that I let them.
Now as the school year has begun the books and materials all have a place in the drawers and on top for the teacher manuals, each student knows which drawer to use and when I say get materials the students know where to go and bring the whole cart or drawer with them.”

Funded Jan 29, 2024Thank you so much for donating to this cause. I was able to get 2 storage carts to store the students reading work and it has made it so much easier for each group to utilize and be successful. When the students first saw the packages come in they could not figure out how 2 storage carts could fit into such small boxes. Once they were open however they were so happy to see an easy way they could store their paperwork.
I can't thank you again for donating to this cause and helping my students feel more organized and successful. Organization is one of the things most of my students struggle with, so having these is just one more way I am able to help them keep their work seperated and in places where they belong.”

Feeding Our Students
Funded Dec 31, 2023Im not sure which the students were more excite to see my open the gatorade or the cheez its boxes. They were so excited to know that I cared enough to ask for help in making sure they can have food and drinks throughout the day if they need them. My school has a huge struggle with tardies and most of the time when they do arrive its well after breakfast is over, so by having these things available to them in my classroom helps them to keep focused until lunch time.
I know they were so very happy and appreciative of all the food that was delivered. My 5th grade students were the most appreciative, a few couldn't believe that someone cared enough to make sure they do not have to go through the day hungry.
I cannot thank you enough for donating to this project and making sure that”

Feeding My Students
Funded Sep 20, 2022I am so grateful for this project being funded. I never realized the amount of students that came to school without eating anything or were late and had to sit until lunch with no food. My students were so happy to see the gatorades and pop tarts that they couldnt believe I really had done this for them.
I had a few older students come in a few weeks ago late as always, and they didnt have anymore late breakfasts in the cafeteria. They knew to come to me, I opened the cabinet and said take a drink and a breakfast item. the boys couldnt believe I would be so kind to them and acutally hugged me saying they were afraid they wouldnt be able to eat until lunch.
The next step for my students it to continue making sure they are taken care of, so they can be successful in school. I am so happy that there is enough snacks to last the rest of the year, at least with the popcorn, crackers and drinks. Next is making sure I have toiletry items, its amazing this year to see the struggle some students are having in making sure they come to school clean or with the basic necessities we as adults take for granted.”

Funded Sep 18, 2022Thank you so much for donating to this project. These math and reading games have helped students immensely. The students were so excited for the different math games, and I was even surprised that one had both math and reading in one board. That one has been the best and most popular activity on activity day.
I have never been more grateful than when I saw this project was funded and I had the opportunity to help my students in another way other than paper and pencil. My kindergarten and first graders who are struggling with learning their letters love that they can use the board for both reading and math lessons. When I first opened the boards up, they wanted to be the first to "play" with them. I gave them 20 minutes to look at everything and help me put it all away, then I got the pop and learn board game out. They loved playing for the gems, the girls especially.
I am looking for more activities like this that the students can have fun with and learn at the same time. 3 of my kindergarteners didnt know half of their letters at the beginning of the year, because of this activity and other instruction they now know all their lower and upper case letters. Its been a great year so far, and I want to thank all who donated and making it possible.”

Back to School Basics
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my donors choose, the materials sent to my classroom have helped the students not only be more organized with their daily work but be safe and healthy in the classroom as we have come back from a covid pandemic.
All of the students were thankful and loved the fidgets to help them stay focused and keep calm during the school day. They have also enjoyed the hanging pocket charts which have allowed them to store their individual resource papers along with pencils and a highlighter that were part of the donors choose packet as well. This allows them to work on individual assignments when not working on their group assignment with me.
Finally all the tissues, hand sanitizer and clorox wipes have helped to keep the classroom clean and reduce the number of germs in the room. The desks are cleaned daily with clorox wipes and tissue boxes are spaced around the room for easier access by students as well as hand sanitizer.”

Funded Apr 16, 2019OSMO is a program that goes onto IPAD's that I have in my special education classroom. The programs are downloaded on to the iPads and then the students work on a specific skill within those programs. The 2 biggest ones that I have used so far are numbers and words. Numbers is a program that has students practice their addition and counting skills.
With my students they do not have the foundational skills needed to be successful in upper level math. OSMO has helped several students so far with their counting skills. One in particular is a 5th grade girl, I have struggled most of the year helping her to be successful. She does not like to try and will often try anything to get out of doing the work. With Osmo she has worked each time and is very successful building her foundational skills.
The fact that its another tool for the students to use has made them very happy. They get bored doing the same thing all the time. So by doing this donor's choose and giving them a new format for learning, I have students coming into the room everyday asking to do OSMO.
I want to take this moment and thank you again for helping to give my students the best opportunity to learn that they can have. Receiving the OSMO kits has been the highlight of the spring for my students.”

Funded Mar 29, 2017I want to thank you all for donating to support my school. The students in my resource room badly needed these Ipads and thanks to you all they now have them. The students are excited when they come into the class and it is Ipad day for them, they love working on OSMO or a sight word activity. I have even created keynote presentations to work on their reading fluency and comprehension with them. They loved when I brought the box into the class and let them open it, it was wonderful to see their faces. There are a few students who have truly responded well to having the Ipads in the classroom. One boy is new to our school, hes had a few rough years. We worked out a deal that if he worked hard in my room and his regular classroom all week, then he could create something on Friday using keynote, educreation or another creative app. He has worked so hard that he now has 5 creations all about the solar system.
Thank you again for helping my students.”

Funded Mar 17, 2017Thank you so much for donating money so that my students could have an OSMO in the classroom. This has helped so many of my resource students, one student especially. She did not know all her letters and sounds, but thanks to the OSMO she learned up to 18 of her letters. The OSMO did this by letter her see a picture of a word and the student had to put the correct tile in place to complete the word. It then sounded out the word and helped her to recognize her letters. Another student used it for making math problems. She was able to draw on the board provided by OSMO and create then complete a picture problem to help her basic math skills increase. The students loved being able to open the box and take it all out, they started coming into resource asking to use the OSMO.
I just want to thank you all again.”
