Ask any teacher what the biggest challenge they face on a day to day basis is, and chances are they will respond with "classroom management problems." This is because we are asking our young children to do things at a young age, like sit for extended periods, that their bodies and brains were never intended to do. Research has shown, time and time again, that the need for young students to move their bodies during instruction is a vital part of the learning process.
Young bodies aren't designed to sit still all day, and young brains have trouble focusing and retaining information when required to be sedentary for long lengths of time. This often leads to behavior issues such as "zoning out" during instruction, playing instead of completing the tasks given, or acting out inappropriately for brain stimulation. In addition, most students today do not have the core body strength that they should have, due to the lack of regular strenuous physical activity. This often leads to spinal issues later in life.
Kore Wobble Stools provide an outlet for students to move while learning, without being the distraction. They have also been shown to improve posture and strengthen core body strength. I have already purchased two of these stools to try, and the results have been phenomenal! Students who could not sit still long enough to complete a simple task, are now focused and able to pay attention to the details of their work.
I truly believe in this cause, and I need your help to make the transition for all of my students from static traditional chairs to the movement of the wobble stools that they all need.
