  • Help! Our Library is Outdated and Boring!

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you so much for providing these books for the 5th-grade classroom. The books added so many cheer-the students are still reading them! I heard that some were being read more than once!

The students finally have a permanent teacher. It has been quite a journey. I was their teacher for the first 9 weeks of the school year. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to continue because I had to leave and care for my elderly mom. They had another substitute and several specialists who have covered the class until this week.

As the new year begins after the Christmas break, I am confident that these students will be well cared for and the books will still be used for years to come.

Thank you again for helping during this tumultuous school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williamson

  • Supplies to the Rescue!

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you , Thank you for all of the supplies. They helped me so much. I was able to give all of my students new supplies. I was also able to accommodate the new students that I got after the year had already started. The students were thrilled and very appreciative.

It has been such a difficult year for all of us. Your generosity has been a very bright spot in the tumultuous year.

As we go back to the final semester of the year I hope to be able to connect even more with my students. It has been difficult to learn about the each ones lives as the demands on teachers have been insurmountable.

    Thank you again!

Happy Holidays to all of you- and thank you for appreciating teachers by contributing to their classrooms.”

  • Please Help Me with My New Classroom!!

    Funded Sep 17, 2021

The books are amazing. The students have poured through them --some have read the books more than once. I have also used them for many lessons.

The illustrations are beautiful and help engage the students while I am reading. Picture books are very special for all ages of learners.

Each one of the books have a great story that can be used for our social emotional lessons (SEL), These lessons have become extremely important this year as we attempt to assimilate the students back to in person learning.

Thank you again. This has been a very rough year for teachers, your generosity makes me feel more appreciated.”

  • Comfy Beanbag Chairs for Reading

    Funded Mar 3, 2021

I wish everyone could have heard the squeals of delight when my in person kids saw the beanbags arrive. I have been having to keep track of who has used one each day so the others can use them the next day.

Now we have 6 and they will all be able to get comfortable and read during our silent reading time. Being able to get comfortable and curl up in a beanbag to read is very special to my students. The bright colors also add a lot to the ambience in the room.

Thank you again for your abundant generosity. Being able to let all the kids get comfy and read will enhance all of our days. One student told me that it was now her favorite time of the day.”

  • Holiday Gifts and Supplies

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for the blankets for my students. I was able to share them with at least 30 children. I am imagining right now that many of them are wrapped up in their green blankets! Like they were at school the days I gave them out. They were so excited to receive them, many of them kept them in their backpacks to carry home and back to school again!

Thank you also for the supplies. I was able to make several new anchor charts for Math. The students noticed the sparkly Sharpie writing. They definitely add some pizazz to my Math charts.

This year has been such a challenge and now we are deep into a multi-day freeze. The blankets will have special meaning to my students and myself this year.

    Thank you again.”

  • Supplies to Organize Learning

    Funded Nov 18, 2020

Thank you so much for all the supplies. We have given them out to our students and also had a few to share with our 4th grade team. The students are using their folders and spirals to stay organized and on track. . Many of our students were with out basic supplies this year, so they were taking all their notes in the same spirals. Needless to say there were lost notes and spirals full of different subjects so the students had a lot of trouble being organized and staying organized.

This has been a strange and unprecedented school year, but your generosity helped us make some a lot of students and teachers feel more secure with our learning environments.

    Very Sincerely”

  • Headphones for Online Learning

    Funded Sep 21, 2020

Thank you so much for the gift of these headphones. I will have a combination for students in my classroom working online and in person. The headphones will minimize the distractions in the room.

I will also be able to deliver headphones to my students that are staying at home. These pairs will also help the students minimize their distractions. All of my students have siblings that are also learning online and often the students are all in the same room. Which creates a lot of noise!

Thank you again for helping my students and me!

    Your generosity is outstanding.”

  • New Books to Encourage Reading

    Funded May 29, 2020

Good Morning! I would like to thank you so much for the books that you bought for my classroom. Due to Covid-19 unfortunately I will not be able to get my kid's hands on them as quickly as I had hoped.

But I do have plans to introduce the books in our initial Zoom meetings. I will be able to create excitement very easily as I plan to teach in my room. I will be virtually showing them the classroom , so that when they do start coming back it will already feel homey to them.

The books are new, clean and colorful. The students will be so happy to be able to dive into a new series and keep going because we have complete sets!

Thank you again for your incredible generosity. You are a hero!”

  • Bean Bags are Great for Reading!

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

My students were thrilled about the bean bag chairs. They couldn't contain themselves when the huge boxes arrived. I hadn't told them about the project.

I let the boxes sit in the room all morning and they made predictions about what was inside. After lunch I unveiled them! They were so excited. We drew straws to see who got to use them first.

We had an excellent silent reading time. The students who were lucky enough to be chosen first were excited for their friends to use them also, so they voluntarily let others use them half way through our time. It was very kind and sincere.

We have set up a system where they will trade off. Of course through out the rest of the day students would plop down on the chairs. Their smiles were priceless.

Thank you again for your generosity. These bean bags will be loving used for many years to come.”

  • Supplies to the Rescue!

    Funded Jul 9, 2019

What an incredible boost for my classroom to receive all these supplies! Your extreme generosity will help my students immensely. Yesterday at our meet the teacher day I shared the supplies with the students. They can't wait to get started making projects with the posterboards

Very often during the year I have to spend my own money or ask students for more supplies. They usually aren't able too bring them . So I end up going without or spending my own money. Our school district is stretched very thin because our State funds have been slashed.

Teachers want to give their students the most full educational experience possible and this isn't always possible with the supplies we are supplied. Volkswagon has helped me so much and I appreciate it!”

    Ms. Williamson

I am a fourth grade teacher in Austin , Texas. I teach in the Montopolis neighborhood. Montopolis is a low income neighborhood that has a rich history and culture. Unfortunately it is quickly becoming gentrified which has made my students' lives even more difficult as property taxes and rents increase yearly. I love my job and the children I teach.
