We Will Rise in The Glory Fields
Funded Mar 18, 2012It is with extreme appreciation that I am writing this note. The eighth grade students at my school have definitely benefited from having the extra copies of The Glory Field. The students are truly enjoying and grasping the feel of the time period in which the novel is set. Great numbers of our students have taken additional copies of The Glory Field home for outside reading, and many of our students have found a new interest in their family histories. Watch out Ancestry.com!
I know that school budgets have been stretched to the limits, so generous donations have become an instrumental part of many learning programs. Our school is so grateful for the support from outside sources.”

We Need A Charge
Funded Sep 2, 2011What a difference the rechargeable batteries and chargers have made in the lives of the students and the teachers at our school! I love the fact that I can always give fresh batteries to our teachers needing extra boost for their classes. The students have been able to present in our library, in the gymnasium, and in the classrooms.
Our hearing-impaired students have benefited greatly with the extra supplies. These children can definitely hear better. With many of the classes being side-by-side, a few of the teachers have commented that they could share classes, if not for the wall. I guess the voice strength can be heard!
Thank you once again for helping enable the learning process for the faculty and the students at our school. We have appreciation for your generosity.”

Make It A Double Feature!
Funded Feb 18, 2011I cannot express my deepest thanks for all your generosity toward my students and their projects. The number of students that have had the opportunity to use the Flip cameras and create their own movies has been phenomenal.
The Leadership classes at our campus have been able to film their own commercials while working on the concept of product placement. Our PALS classes have designed their own videos concerning bullying, cheating in schools, and drugs on campuses. Other classes have worked with the novel The Lightning Thief, and they modified the ending while using the Flip cameras.
Placing technology into the hands of students certainly gives them ownership of the projects we are creating. The number of times that our students have rerecorded their video clips, because it was not "perfect" is astounding. They are proud of what they created. Our principal and counselors plain on using the PALS videos for our incoming seventh graders in the fall. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and giving hearts.”

Picture This!
Funded Feb 25, 2010I just wanted to "Thank You" once again for all of your support. Our Leadership class students were extremely excited for having the opportunity to record their projects. This class made commercials that will be shown to in-coming seventh graders for the 2010-2011 school year.
The class project focused on the concept of peer pressure and refusal skills. Three different classes with four groups wrote scripts, practiced, and made their movies! The Flip cameras are so easy to use, and the students did all the recording and movie-making.
Other teachers could not believe the ease in which these classes used the cameras. Our district is offering a staff development class this summer, which highlights the use of this type of camera. I think the class is full of my colleagues.
We cannot wait for the coming school years to put this technology into the hands of more students. Thank you very much for the awesome opportunity.”
