Color Printer to Make Social Studies Come Alive!
Funded May 4, 2022Thanks to your efforts, this project has been fully funded. I am so excited that our students will have access to a color printer! Students will be able to view maps and sources so much clearer and our classroom boards will really pop!
Your contributions really made a difference, and I thank you!”

Funded Dec 23, 2021The blue floor chairs have been a big hit in the 7th and 8th grade! Students are excited to take a chair into the hall and get to work. They are motivated to work both independently and with classroom adults when they have the chance to sit so comfortably in the hallway.
Having these chairs in our classroom has been such a help during these end-pandemic days. We have been able to flexible group in all kinds of ways because we know we can just have kids grab a blue chair and go.
This project has extended our classroom walls into the halls! Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our work!”

Funded Apr 2, 2021My Pandemic Year Pod loved our Concrete Rose book club, made possible with your donations.
We fell in love with Angie Thomas, the author of Concrete Rose, through reading both The Hate U Give and On the Come Up. On the Come Up was our 3rd book club book of the year, and we were thrilled to be able to continue to read her work through Concrete Rose.
We finished our year on a high note by reading and bonding over Concrete Rose. We started our reading together with an ice cream party to launch the work. And they were off! I couldn't stop them from devouring the book like they devoured their ice cream!
I am so grateful that you helped to provide these shared reading experiences for us!”

Brighten Up our Pandemic Year Classroom!
Funded May 4, 2021With your kind and generous donations, my students and I were able to end our pandemic year on a high note.
We turned Fridays into Friday Fun Dress Up Days, and celebrated our unique year every week. Through pictures, games and all of the bright treats that your donations bought for us, we laughed, learned and were wacky together. We built very fond memories of our time together.
I was able to start this school year knowing that you helped me create a strong community last year. My pod has carried those experiences into 8th grade. They remind me of our shared community every time they come to visit my classroom and share their joys and hardships of returning to school this year.
Thank you!”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you once again for your donations that allowed me to engage my students in a book club focused on the book "Stamped" by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. My students fully engaged in questions about Black history and racism. They learned about assimilationists and anti-racists. Our discussions opened us up to what it means to be a student of American history today. Each day as a social studies teacher I work hard to be sure that Black history is seen as American history. This book club was a powerful way to start our book clubs for this year - a year which continues to be historical and powerful in so many ways.”

Funded Aug 27, 2019Your donations have had a tremendous impact on my classroom. We were able to unbox the computers and had them linked to our network within the first week of school. Since then, students have been able to complete student interest surveys, participate in quiz games, and create their own web pages by using the computers. And that's only within the first couple of months of school!
Having these computers in our classroom has allowed our students to quickly engage with research and with our school platforms for submitting work. We no longer have to lug carts to our floor and fish through laptop carts to find the few that are working. With the computers that you helped to purchase, we have reliable computer access daily, which means that more kids are excited to get to work!
Additionally, your contributions have ensured that students without reliable computer access at home are able to use our classroom computers to complete their work.”

Funded Apr 30, 2019Your generous donations have created the opportunity for students in my classroom to work both independently and collaboratively on developing their research and ideas about Social Studies. In our school, computers are in high demand, and a set of laptops is not always available for us to utilize. With these five computers, we are building our capacity for immediate access to technology. Because of your donations, I have been able to ensure that there are always computers in my classroom for students to research, draft, edit, and share their ideas.
With the gift of these five computers, students have dependable, working computers to rely on. They have been so excited to use the new computers that I have had to develop a system for assigning priority or shared use.
Additionally, with your help, I have now been able to ensure that for group work, there is a guaranteed computer at each table in my classroom. We can access online quizzes and games, bringing more fun to our classroom as well! Thank you again!”

Hot Picks Classroom Library
Funded Sep 13, 2018I thank you again for your kind donations this fall. My students have been diving into their reading with great interest and excitement about the books that came in through these donations. Through your help, students were able to practice the skills of predicting, visualizing and connecting with their texts. They questioned their characters' choices and relationships, and debated whether the movie version of their book would be better than the experience of reading it. Books have been flying off the shelves, and we all look forward to our reading time. My students Chase and Nasir are so excited about Tiffany D. Jackson's new books that they wait until the last possible minute to return them. Without your help, we would not be so eager to continue to push our students to read. You made this possible!”

Ms. Grossman
