Throughout the years my students have LOVED this novel. Coming from an economically disadvantaged background they always relate to the main character in the story, Bud. Bud is a boy their age living through the Great Depression, so as they are picking up literacy skills they are also learning about historical events. I have students coming to my classroom at the beginning of the school year excited because they heard we will read a fantastic novel. The only problem is that my current novel set is completely deteriorated, it has missing pages and the rest are coming apart. I would hate to miss an opportunity to read a great novel that my students LOVE. Please help us out. Thank you!
