My students need a variety of books to foster their independent reading skills in Spanish. They have an abundance of books in the English language, but as this is a dual language academy they need an equally adequate amount of books in Spanish. I hope to provide them with as many options for reading as possible. We understand that students who are bilingual and bi-literate have many more opportunities to succeed as students, leaders, and citizens. They will only be able to reach such heights if they are provided a broad range of texts and text levels to support their learning and desire to read. As their Literacy teacher, I must do all I can to provide this support to all three seventh grade classes.

About my class
