I am requesting supplies for my students and my classroom to allow my students to learn in many different ways. I teach in a low income school, in which many of these students come into my classroom from broken homes, busy lives, and not much learning experiences at home. I have created a classroom environment that is creative, engaging, and exciting for these young minds.
Many of my lessons include hands-on activities for my young students, to actively engage their learning. We run out of supplies very quickly, and many of my parents can not afford to help supply classroom materials such as scissors, caddies for their tables, a pencil sharpener since our one and only one broke, and velcro for their name tags/ sight word activities.
My classroom is very diverse. Most of my students come into my classroom the first day of school not knowing any English. My job is to make those students feel as accepted as possible, and for them to know that they can achieve their goals in learning how to read and learning English. With that being said, it is crucial that I have materials to help them learn to the best extent that they can. Magnetic letters, clipboards for writing the room centers, guided reading books, (laminator) lamination activities for them to work on, and word work (phonics center) are all wonderful resources for these hard working students to use to excel.
This upcoming year I want to make sure my students have all the resources possible to reach their Kindergarten goals. I want to make sure I can create hands-on activities for all my students with all the help from you!
