Interactive Science Experience
Funded Sep 26, 2022Thank you so very much for supporting our students in our underprivileged area of Texas. Know that people like you are supporting the students is incredibly reassuring. The impact this donation will have on our students will speak volumes to the generosity you have shown our students. I know our students will enjoy learning using these items.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Travis Elementary is striving to become one of the first schools to create student produced, student shot, and student edited full feature films. Here at Travis, our students will be writing a script which they will use the knowledge of the writing process they learned during 4th grade specifically catered for the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness test. Students learned how to write a story loosely based on real life but are shown how to elaborate and create voice. Using this technique, our students have been able to great script ideas to make feature films. Another thing this after-school program will help create is a great learning attitude. The students whom have entered the "Future Movie Makers of America" are required to keep a good grade point average and the members are happy to keep them up. This helps the students focus during class and makes them want to come to school to work on the movies.
The new camera that has been donated has created a large amount of excitement with my students. For three weeks, the students have been exclaiming to all other students how they will be able to learn how to create, produce, edit and premier a feature film. The new club has created such an excitement that now I have many other students asking if they can join.
Most of the students have already much research about the techniques of making a movie. Most of the students have gone out and researched how to use the camera and how to edit the videos created with the camera. I did not expect students to do this yet as this is a program that will begin in September. Most of the students have already been able to show me how to properly use the camera. This makes me extremely confident that my movie club will be very successful.”

Funded Apr 30, 2017Words simply cannot express the gratitude that the students, teachers, administration, and I have for being completely honored enough to have received this donation. This donation will have an immediate impact on our students by engaging their scientific interest like never before. I have found a new way to fully engage students during a science lesson. Although I already incorporated fun and meaningful activities, the introduction of the 3D glasses really does take it to a new dimension.
I showed a video to 24 students on the Grand Canyon. I had shown the same video to a group of 5th grade students last school year with not much success. This time, the students were fully engaged and paying close attention to the video. After the video, I asked the students some questions, and everyone had their hands up wanting to answer the questions. I have not seen participation like this for quite some time.
I will continue to implement similar videos to ensure that learning is continuing in my science lab. I can assure you that the students of Crockett Elementary will have a science experience like no other school in our district. Thank you again for your wonderful donations.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Romero
