  • Steam Rolling Our Way to Success!

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

I want to thank you so much for all your help in donating a Steamroller for my therapy room at P.S.52. It is already helping my students with motor planning, strengthening, body awareness and sensory processing. It is a wonderful tool in helping to also calm the students by applying deep pressure which translates to increased focus and attention in the classroom. The teachers are already seeing a difference in our students functioning and participation in the school environment. Thank you again for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. C.

  • Help Us Swing Our Way To Success!

    Funded Mar 3, 2017

I am so grateful for your generous contributions in helping P.S.52 purchase a swing for our therapy room. Your donation is helping my students acquire the sensory input that their bodies so desperately crave. Swings provide proprioceptive, tactile, and vestibular input, which are prove to be the most effective means of regulating the sensory system. In the short time that I have had the swing, huge differences have already been noticed by many teachers and staff members, such as increased focus and attention in the classroom. Having this essential piece of equipment in my school will make a huge impact on my students' participation and success within the school environment. I want to thank you so much for helping me to provide the best services I can to the students at P.S.52.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. C.

Many of the students I work with on a daily basis struggle with keeping their sensory systems regulated. The sights, sounds, and overall experience of school environment are too much for their little bodies and minds to handle. Often, my children are in a state of "flight or fight" which results in them being labeled as behavior problems, hyperactive and disruptive. As a therapist, I know that these children are in fact, motivated to behave and please their teachers; the problem is that their bodies just can't handle the stress of a typical school day. Your donation will be a huge help in getting my students the sensory input that their bodies so desperately crave. Swings provide proprioceptive, tactile, and vestibular input, which are the proven to be the most effective means of regulating a person's sensory system. Without this frame, my students will not have access to such input. No student asks to have autism or ADHD or sensory processing disorder. No student wants to be labeled a problem in their class. Please help me in getting my students the tools they need to achieve success!
