When you walk into your first classroom for the first time, it typically has bare walls and has little furniture. That's when the shopping begins! Although shopping for the classroom is fun, it can be very expensive, very fast. Most experienced teachers spend about $500 to $1000 on classroom supplies each year, so I'm sure you can imagine how much a first year teacher will spend. Most of these items that my students need are larger items which are obviously more expensive and would take a while to save up for. With your help, these supplies can be used in the classroom immediately instead of waiting for the next school year. The supplies I am requesting are considered a necessity for most elementary school teachers. My students are currently sitting on a bare floor during shared reading and workshops and have requested a carpet to sit on because the floor is cold and it provides extra padding. During a lesson, the students help create an anchor chart to display on the wall about the lesson which can include definitions, steps, and other important information to help them remember and understand the lesson. With an easel to display the anchor charts, all students can read it easily and the supplies are all located in one area. Thank you in advance for helping this novice teacher become a seasoned educator!
