My seventh grade students are made up of very special children. These children attend an inner-city school and come from mostly low-socioeconomic homes. Most of them come from single parent homes. My students do not let the stigma slow them down when it comes to academics. Our classroom theme is "BeYOUnique!" My mission is to instill in my students that no matter what their circumstances, they can be and do anything. They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we continue to practice that with hard work and consistency they can be "YOUnique" or different from the rest. My student's are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy! Having an iPad for our classroom will help enhance my students' reading abilities. The children will use age appropriate websites and programs to play games and complete lessons that will help in aiding him or her in their reading weaknesses.  The iPad for our room will help strengthen our childrens' literacy needs! We all know that technology is a child's best friend this day and time. Our children do not have as much access to technology as other children from higher socioeconomic homes. Having access to this fun and innovative iPad can only benefit our literacy challenges! My students also quire headphones to be able to stay focused! In our class, we use listening centers, academic games on to enhance, differentiate, and advance each student's learning level! However, without headphones, students tend toto hear what other students are working on and lose focus of their own personal academic goals. The headphones with microphones will be used to enhance fluency, allowing students to read into the computer and then listen to their own reading.
