  • Tools for Testing Success

    Funded Dec 30, 2023

This was the best Christmas surprise for me! With my project almost out of time, I had thought that it may not happen. I can not tell you how grateful I am that you made it happen for my kids! We were especially in need of good headphones and we have already started putting them to good use! The new headphones work well with the iPad cases that all of our students have and my social skills group have already started practicing using the breathing strips.

This also comes just in time for our state testing to begin in March and I can not wait to read our story and support my students in doing their best without all of the stress. Thank you for making testing (something that we all dislike) into something more positive for my students and me. We appreciate your support more than you know! Thank you so much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferguson

  • Supplying a Strong Start!

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

Thank you so much for starting our school year strong! My students were so excited to have their brand new supply bags We've already jumped into our learning and they love having all of their supplies ready-to-go! It is already helping my classroom run more smoothly. We have organized supplies, folders, and resources that my kids are already using! I can not thank you enough for the burden that it lifted off of my shoulders. It frees me up to purchase other fun resources that we will use in my classroom.

Thank you again! My students are engaged and motivated by the supplies that you have given them. I can't wait to see them grow this year while they use them. We really appreciate your support of our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferguson

  • Strengthening Our Reading and Phonics Brains

    Funded Jul 5, 2023

Thank you so much donating to my project. I am so excited to improve my reading instruction this year and make it more engaging and impactful for my learners. We are just getting started with the school year, but I have already purchased a large amount of decodable readers at a wide variety of levels to meet all of my students' reading needs. Additionally, I found some hands-on mats and materials to support building their phonics knowledge.

Your donation is allowing me to rejuvenate my whole reading curriculum to be more Science of Reading based. I can not wait to use these materials in my small reading groups with my struggling primary readers. I can not thank you enough! I'm sure I am going to see a ton of reading growth this year and I appreciate you helping me to provide these resources for my students!”

  • Snacks and Surprises for Learning

    Funded Feb 28, 2023

I wish I could accurately express in words the excitement that this project has given to my students in my classroom! This long and dreary stretch of the school year is often difficult for students and this project has helped to improve that. When we received our packages, it truly felt like Christmas. We wasted no time in digging into the snacks and treasures that we received.

Just last week, students in my room started their final growth measurement tests for our district. These tests are very daunting for my students typically as academic tasks can be quite challenging for my special education students. It is amazing what some snacks can do to improve the focus and persistence during those stressful situations. Additionally, having breakfast options for students who are tardy or hungry goes such a long way in making a child's day a little brighter.

Our treasure chest had a major makeover as well, all thanks to this project! Students have been so excited to earn their behavior incentives to get those surprises. I wish you could have heard the excitement as they saw all the slime, sticky hands, and various fidgets. It made meeting their daily behavior goal the cool thing to do!

Thank you again so much for making such an impact on the enthusiasm in my classroom! I wish that I could better portray the joy that you are bringing and the impact that you are making! You've rejuvenated the entire atmosphere in my classroom and I am truly looking forward to ending our school year with so much positivity and growth! I appreciate your support with this project with all of my heart and hope you also feel the joy that you have given to us! Thank you so much for supporting me and my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferguson

  • Playing Our Way Into Social and Emotional Learning!

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

I wish I could convey in words how much fun we are having with the resources that you have so generously contributed to our class. Since we have received our materials, we have jumped right into playing our Zones games. The best part of all of this is that my students don't even realize all that they are learning! My students request to play their Zones games daily. They have also loved the books we have read as well. Thank you so much for making our social and emotional learning so much more fun. My students love it and I am seeing them use those skills in many areas in our school. I wish you could watch them laugh and play as they talk about emotions and tricky scenarios. We have so much more to dig into with the materials we received, but we can't wait to learn with all of it! Thank you so very much for supporting me and my students! WE are having a blast learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferguson

  • Our Calm Classroom

    Funded Nov 23, 2020

This is my first funded project on Donor's Choose and to say that I am ecstatic would be an understatement. I am so very excited to use these materials with my students. I have a daily social and emotional skills group that is going to absolutely love the engaging read-alouds that I received as part of this project. We have already done many activities from the Mindfulness Games book and have already used some great stories to support what we have been working on with emotional regulation. It really felt like Christmas and these gifts came at a perfect time.

My school recently closed for in-person learning due to the pandemic. My students are temporarily learning remotely. We are looking forward to continuing to use the materials as we return to in-person instruction in January. Getting our packages was a bright spot in a tough year for us. The wonderful thing about the materials is that we've started using them, even in remote learning. They've added excitement to our lessons for sure!

Thank you for opening up a new world of engagement for my students in an area that we are continuing to work so hard on every day. We look forward to continuing to use them as we learn remotely and in-person. Thank you so much for supporting us in our journey!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ferguson

All of my students strive to do their best at school. For some, there are many factors that can make learning more difficult. As a special education teacher, I support students with a wide variety off needs. Increasingly, many students in my school have shown difficulty with social and emotional skills. As a school, we have implemented a variety of supports to meet those needs, like daily social skills curriculum, calm corners, sensory breaks, and more. However, I want to do more! Last school year, I started using the Zones of Regulation Curriculum with a small group of students to support identifying and managing their emotions. I strive to continue that work, but want to continue to build upon that program and work with colleagues to support more students needing help. With the social and emotional skills resources in this project, I want to provide more hands-on and engaging materials to get students actively involved in building mindfulness, working on their Zones of Regulation skills through the four colored zones (red, yellow, blue, and green), and growing their social and emotional skills. The supplies, read-alouds, and games in this project will allow me the opportunity to enhance and expand the small group work that I have started. With the transition back to school after a long time away, my students will need this help more than ever. Please consider helping me get some of these fun materials in the hands of my kids to help them reach their goals.
