Calming Area
Funded Jan 11, 2023Thank you so much for your donation. I was not sure how successful a comfort corner would be for middle school, but decided to give it a shot. I can not tell you how happy I am I decided to try it in the classroom. Students were so excited I had to create a sign up sheet, and go in alphabetical order to make sure each student got a turn. Very quickky students got attached to the area, and started giving nicknames to the items in the comfort corner. I was happy to find that they could sit in the corner and continue to do thier work without distraction.
When students are in this area in the classroom it helps them talk less, and focus on thier work. I can only assume it is because they want to spend as much time as they can when they finish early to take full advantage of the stress relief items in the classroom, or the stress relief helps them to focus.
I have had a few students approach me to let me know that they had a bad day, and if they could go in the comfort corner, so I know they are really apprecating it. They don't always want to talk about it with me when they have had a bad day, but the comfort corner option shows them I care about thier feelings.”

Reading Between the Spines Manga Book Club.
Funded Sep 13, 2022Thank you so much for your thoughtfulnes, and helping donate to the reading materials for our Anime Club. We have over 20 students that visit the club on a regular basis. Some of these students have checked out, and checked in various books to read that were made available by your generous donation.
Being able to have this selection of reading at the club has been amazing. These books have helped to glorify the stories apart from the anime videos that we watch during club time. As you may well know, nothing tells a story better than a book. The students have had so much fun with the imagry of the Manga books, and I hope that through your donation they have learned to appreciate other cultures as well.
My studets and I are sending a little heartfelt appreciation your way today.”

Funded Aug 8, 2020First off,
I would like to thank you for your donation. I apologize that the pictures are not as colorful as the pictures I would usually send to show impact.
The students are working from home now, but your donation has had an impact. The pictures I have shared are at home kitchen experiments the students have been able to do based on your donation.
Although the pictures are missing their adorable faces, the activity itself was one of the funnest, and I feel that it really helped to build class culture. Right away, the students started asking when we were going to do this again.
Due to the donation that you have made, I am considering making a STEAM event at my school once a month, so that all the students can try different cool distance experiments that I was able to purchase with your donation. This is just the beginning.
Thanks for playing a hand in bringing us together with class activities durning distance learning!”

Funded Apr 27, 2020Thank you so much for your donation.
This project has allowed me to print out so many activities to enjoy with my students.
So far we have made game boards, pamphlets, Science Journals, and hands on measuring activities. Students also have rushed in last minute in a panic to print their homework as well.
Our school is in the midsts of at home learning at the moment, however the printer is safely stored away waiting to be used when we find ourselves back at the brick and mortar.
A wise person once told me that being a school teacher, "you can make anything out of paper."
Your donation towards the printer and ink has helped make this so at SFIAM.
Thanks again!”

Funded Dec 29, 2019With the right classroom headphones, you have helped completely change how the students think about science. They are now able to listens to facts, or focus on a test. The students are also more excited about learning, and are able to focus better. It has helped make learning more interesting for the students.
Your donation has helped keep the students focused because their education is now more entertaining in a lot of ways. They are able to participate in a wider variety of activities in the classroom such as self paced lessons, music, and educational games, or make up work without disturbing those around them. It also has assisted with those students with special needs that are an inclusive part of my classroom that may be sensitive to noises.
Most importantly, my students were very touched to see someone that cares, and it has helped encourage them to keep learning. It has proven as an indispensable tool.
Thank you so much for your gracious donation, you have touched not only the lives of my current students, but I am sure it will also make an impact on my future students as well. As the teacher it warms my heart to see them achieve more due to the simple fact that they feel cared for. I can not thank you enough.”

Funded Oct 22, 2010Again, I would like to thank you for the generous donation of classroom library books for our
classroom. If you recall, the library was closed this school year, but the students have kept a love of reading due to your fabulous donation. Each day the students are looking at the clock, but not to
wait until class is over, they are seeing if they can beat the clock to have some free time to read
their favorite book. Some students even request to stay during lunch because they don't want to put the book down
So far we have worked on in class book reports, literature circles, gallery walks, and compose silent reading when we get a chance. No more do I hear in the classroom, "those books are boring," or "why don't you get some better books, these are too old," and when they finish one there are so many close at hand to choose from that they never get bored.
The next step I am thinking of doing is to have the students write and conduct a play based on their favorite story from literature circles. Or to have them give an oral presentation on Thier favorite book to make sure that they are college ready. If we get real crafty, I might have them dress up and pretend to be a character in the book giving the speech.
So many ways to enjoy our new books, it seems almost endless. One student reached out to me and told me that she likes to read the books because she can get lost in it and forgets about all her troubles at home. She now stays every lunch time shares a bite to eat, and reads a book.
Thanks for helping us share those memorable moments, ”
