  • First Grade Fact Finders

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

These books have made a huge impact already in my classroom. They arrived

on Friday I couldn't wait to unpack them and have them all set up

for when the kids came in on Monday. I knew the excitement would be

huge and I was not disappointed. They couldn't get them in their hands fast

enough and their voices got higher and louder!

The kids couldn't wait to dive right in! It is so nice to see them

excited to learn and find out information in these nonfiction books.

Even my most reluctant readers could be heard yelling out," Hey, look at this!"

I told them that we would be able to research animals and plants

with these new books and they asked if they could do writing about the

animals and plants as well- of course I responded in the affirmative

to cheers from my audience! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting

    such deserving students!”

Now we don't have to waste precious learning time getting out materials! We can spend more time on learning and not on cleaning up,too!

We are so grateful for your donations and your belief in this project. Thank you for realizing the impact that it will have on my students and their learning!

    Thank you again!

  • Ready Set Action!

    Funded Oct 26, 2017

Thank you so very much for donating to this project. The document camera has made a huge impact in my classroom. The students have warmed to seeing words in print projected through the document camera onto our white board. They have marveled at their words being shown to their classmates and have been proud to share their written work whether it be Literacy based or Mathematical in nature. This document camera has changed the way that I teach and the way that the students learn. Learning from one another and sharing out is something that i am proud to say that we do multiple times a day in my classroom. The document camera has made it an easier transition and the students are really excited to share their work with others. Also, it has been a wonderful vehicle for reading texts aloud to the students as they can follow along with what I am reading and have the opportunity to sound out words themselves. Everyone always wants to be the pointer when this activity comes along! The document camera has really endured a sense of excitement in learning and sharing, and isn't that just what school should be all about? I am looking forward to using this camera throughout the subject areas that I teach and instilling a sense of pride in student work for my students and a continued love of learning!”

  • It's Time For Kids

    Funded Sep 2, 2015

I can not thank you enough for making this project a reality! Literacy is so very important and TFK certainly allows children the opportunity to read about a wide variety of topics, see glorious color pictures, as well as travel the globe without leaving the comfort of their classroom! My students get so excited when I pass out TFK. It's so nice to see in their eyes the eagerness to learn and engage through discussions related to what we are reading in TFK. The children live to take turns using the easel sized copy of the magazine and searching the text got important words that help describe what they are reading.

TFK has wonderful resources to use with my students and I truly have seen a difference in their ability to converse with a partner while using TFK. They use the academic language which is prevalent throughout the magazine in delight in discussing their views and opinions of what they have read or scene in the photographs.

I have witnessed first hand how TFK engages students and helps to further their academic success. My students get so excited when they pack up their magazine at the end of the day and can take it home and share it with their families. It is so wonderful to see and makes me so happy as an educator.

Thank you again for providing this fabulous opportunity to my students.”

  • Magnificent Magna Tile Mathematics

    Funded Aug 29, 2013

I can't thank you enough for contributing to this project. The magnatiles arrived and the children were simply awestruck. These fabulous open ended math manipulatives have certainly brightened my classroom, allowed the children to engage in in creative cooperative constructive playing, as well as been the catalyst for some wonderful discussions and writing about building. Wow! These truly have made a huge impact on the way my First Graders work cooperatively. Also, the pride and joy that is evident from their huge smiles as they display and discuss their creations fills my heart!

I have already begun have the children recreate their building using crayons. Not an easy job, but one that the children certainly are enjoying. The buzzing excitement in my room has led to many questions from interested adults and children alike in our school community.

Learning should be fun. Coming to school should be a joy. Hands on maniplatives that encourage learning in so many ways, shapes and forms are a true winner in my classroom. I can honestly say, these manipulatives are the true winner in my room as are the children who are lucky enough to be able to use them!

Thank you for believing in this project and for supporting it. your support means a great deal to me and to the children,”

  • Bean Bags, Blankets and Books...Oh My!

    Funded Dec 5, 2011

Thank you so very much for your kindness in donating to my project. The children's eyes lit up when we unpacked the boxes and they couldn't wait to cozy up on the rug with a friend or two, a book and a beanbag chair. The buzz of excited students filled the classroom as we all experienced the comfy bean bags. It is so nice to see the delight in children as they read, talk and share books with one another in a nice space devoted to reading. The children are our future and by donating you have shown a believe in the children of tomorrow, a hope for their future and a desire to help them achieve.

Thank you for believing in this project and for helping my students achieve a life long love of reading!”

  • Relax and Read

    Funded Jul 20, 2011

Thank you so much for providing a comfortable spot for my children to read. This has meant the world to them as they have truly found reading to be a nice pleasurable experience which allows them to travel the world and experience a multitude of adventures through reading.

I delight as I see the students in my classroom gravitate to this nice colorful and cozy spot which is so inviting. Many a time, I have found the children so engrossed in their reading that it is as if the carpet has put a "magical spell" on them.

You have made a difference in the lives of so many. In this crucial time of budget cuts, and a downward economy, you have found a way to generate excitement, enthusiasm, and hope in our future through the children that I teach.

Thank you for bringing happiness, delight and the love of reading to my classroom. You have truly made a difference!”

    With gratitude,

  • Magical Journeys

    Funded Dec 26, 2009

I can't explain to you enough how your donation has impacted the lives of the children in my classroom. Books are the key to reading success and having multiple copies of books lets literature circles come alive. Through The Magic Tree House Series, the children have the opportunity to read, explore, travel to new destinations and learn historical facts. Reading comprehension is strengthened,as well as instilling a life long love of books and reading.

The children gravitate to this series and anxiously await the next adventure that they can go on with the two main characters,Jack and Annie. I am proud of the enthusiasm that the children have and the desire that they project to reading and the activities that I have developed to accompany each book in the series.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind and generous donation for the children in my classroom. You have allowed them to experience the magical journey of reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kerai

Magic can happen when a child opens a book and discovers a whole new world. Amazement happens in my classroom when a science project is performed and the outcome is eye opening to the little eyes that I teach. Seductive reasoning and explaining our thinking occur daily through our ability to problem solve mathematical equations. I am a First Grade teacher in a high need community. On a daily basis I instill curiosity, a sense of wonder a delight in learning and teamwork along with compassion and caring. By teaching an energetic group of First Graders, I am constantly engaging these little minds in academic discourse, enabling them to put sounds together to create words, as well as explore a multitude of learning activities which can challenge, provide solutions and give my first grade friends a wonderful sense of accomplishment. They are high energy and come from diverse backgrounds in a high needs area.
