Lamination Wows!
Funded Nov 6, 2024Being able to laminate frequently used items allows me to use them with many students and not worry that the constant use will damage the materials. Instead it's the opposite! My students are able to use expo markers on these laminated materials, I print them in color so that my students can see the bright shine pop on these varied materials, and they don't fade from the sunny weather!
Lamination has certainly changed my teaching game for the better. It has also allowed students to work with materials more easily and I am able to laminate some of their most special work that they are proudest of and they can take it home knowing that their writing and illustrations with remain as a great memory forever!”

Organize and Time to Write
Funded Oct 9, 2024Being able to have time to work with a partner in class is crucial when academic talk is necessary that being said, I am so very proud of the work that my students did creating word problems and sharing them with a partner to solve. This requires students to use the academic vocabulary in the word problems and also require their partner to be familiar with said vocabulary so they could solve the problem at hand. Partnerships worked together to decide what was important to put into the problems and why it was important. Students showed great ability to work with partners that were chosen for them by me as well as partners that they chose. It was interesting to see what skills we were working on that made it into the problems, too!”

Write On!
Funded Aug 5, 2024Having what you need to be successful in class is important in so many ways. Every student is different and some have and some have not. Making the playing field alive with supplies that meet all students needs makes sure that everyone is included and supported. I had to do a little pivoting with this project because some of the items were not available. It now has a a math vision and is focusing upon place value and how we write numbers and compare them.
This has allowed me to purchase clapboards and other tools to help students access the curriculum and continue to write on, but with a math focus.”

Math, It’s The Only Subject That Counts!
Funded Jul 14, 2024I am so very thrilled that this project was funded. Math is hard for a lot of students. My hope with this project was that I would be able to create engaging lessons that modeled the concept being taught, gave practice and above all, support so that all the students that I work with can feel successful.
Being able to house differentiated materials for my groups was crucial. After I work with a small group and some students are ready to practice on their own, i direct students to the mailbox where practice problems are located for each group. This allows students a way to grow their independence while being focused on what hey need to do independently. Winn win!
Also, the journal books and multiplication charts have allowed extra practice for my struggling students as I have turned them into center practice for my students who still needed some guided support but want to feel their independence, too. I have also used the other supplies to support individual group needs and to target math growth.”

White Boards, Markers and Erasers, Let’s Go!
Funded Jun 6, 2024Having the tools necessary to complete class assignments is crucial. Every student doesn't have the means to purchase supplies and neither does every teacher. Through DC I was add able to secure supplies for students to take risks, challenge themselves and be part of the learning process.
When these supplies arrived the happy smiles were really heartwarming. When you know kids need help and you give them the tools necessary to try, to make mistakes and to keep learning and growing that is when you know that you really have touched the life of a child.”

Funded Jun 26, 2024I can not tell you enough how important it is for each student to have a safe quiet learning space. These headphones do just that! They have been perfect for students to be able to hear directions from the computer and work independently in their own lessons based upon their skill needs.
These headphones have also been comfortable which is a must for students to want to wear them. Previous to these l, kids have complained that they're too big, too uncomfortable or break easily. Not these! They were perfect right out of the box!”

Funded May 3, 2024Thank you so much for your kindness in supporting my students with these fabulous boxes that not only allow students to keep supplies safe at hand, it also allows them to store some math manipulatives so that while they're working at their desks they'll have just what they need and won't have to get up and get things losing prime independent work time. I am so thrilled with how excited the kids were to receive these and use these especially during Math! It has really been a lifesaver having these individual storage cases.”

We’re Attracted To Magnets!
Funded May 3, 2024Having hands on materials really makes learning about magnetism and all that that encompasses that much easier to comprehend. Exploring with hands on materials makes each student a scientist in their own right and allows everyone to be able to share their own experiences, opinions and observations. It levels the playing field so to speak.
My students thoroughly enjoyed working with these magnetic materials and had wonderful engaging conversations with classmates where they shared their experiences and even opted to add on to or disagree with a classmates response but giving reasons that made sense to them based upon their own experiences.”

Funded Apr 15, 2024Some say it's the little things that count and I can't agree more! Having the little supplies that one needs to power through the day is so necessary. I can honestly tell you that my students go through pencils like they're ice cream. They are such unbelievable bard workers that they are constantly writing stories, solving math problems, sketching and writing in journals that pencils are constantly being sharpened and losing tenth for students to use. Erasers are used just as much and when they get tiny are difficult to use.too. It's amazing how these new supplies have set us off in the road to further progress and growth.”

Hocus Pocus Let’s All Focus!
Funded Mar 25, 2024Being able to the out what is around you is a skill that many elementary students do not have as they want to be involved in whatever is going on. Cue the noise canceling headphones and they are able to do just that and focus on what is important ti them, have a quiet environment for taking tests as well as being able to concentrate on their own work. I used to have a couple of headphones in years past, but that made it difficult for it was perceived that there were only a chosen few being able to to use them- I worked in a first ask basis for this. But with your help I was able to procure a class set which really allows my students to concentrate and get their individual learning jobs done!”
