Quality Paint Brushes for Studio Art
Funded Mar 21, 2013The students were so happy to receive new, quality paint brushes and were amazed by the types of brushes and the importance of choosing a good brush and its impact on their painting. All brushes are not created equal and I wanted my students to have quality tools to achieve amazing results. Hundreds of students use these brushes weekly, so we need a steady replenishment of brushes throughout the year that are robust for classroom use and economical. We used the brushes to paint whimsical and dynamic food inspired paintings and we also used the brushes in our Impressionistic Painting Unit and Mixed Media Collages. Thank you for your consideration and donation and for supporting art education in public schools.”

Table Easels Needed for Studio Art Class
Funded Feb 25, 2013My students were thrilled that we received a class set of table easels for our Painting Unit in Grade 6. The easels are small and transportable and lent themselves well to a full class of 33 students. Students had more space, learned about the easel as a tool and they really took pride in using the easel, which added value to their process and overall project. We used them for the painting process, as well as when we displayed our work and had gallery walks and exhibitions. The easels gave our exhibitions a more polished look and the students work could be displayed more readily and professionally. These easels are a wonderful investment in our art program and will be used over and over by hundreds of middle school students in the art studio. Thank you so much for taking the time to donate to our classroom and support art education.”

Hurricane Sandy Recovery: Specialty Papers for Studio Art Class
Funded Nov 19, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation, especially in light of Hurricane Sandy, which impacted our school and community. Students were excited to return to school after the storm and to get back to "normal".
The specialty papers purchased for studio art class gave students the opportunity to be exposed to and experiment with materials in their abstract collage projects. Students learned about materials, process and technique, rather than focusing on a specific object or place.
The papers purchased added variety to the final collage projects and were a huge asset to the classroom, especially with constrained budgets at our school.
Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and support for Art Education.”

Funded Sep 12, 2012Thank you for your donations and support for art education and supplies. This is a small token to express my gratitude for your thoughtfulness and contribution in making my art studio a flourishing environment for my students. The canvas boards and newsboard were used in both sixth and seventh grades for painting and collage projects and special exhibition projects. I see approximately 300 students throughout the school year and we have a shortfall in our budget for supplies at our school, so your support means so much. Also, we have reached maximum class size with up to 33 students in an art class, which makes the demand for supplies that much greater than in the past. In Grade 6, students created paintings on the canvases donated about their favorite foods while learning how to paint, color mix and the concept of drawing 3-D forms on a 2-D surface. In Grade 7, students made mixed media collages on newsboard and learned how to integrate a variety of materials while they expressed an idea about a place or special event in their lives. These supplies mean so much to me and my students and your donation made a difference.”
