Who doesn't like gaming systems as a 5th grader? The Amazon Fire 7 Tablets will help my students become proficient in learning social studies facts by coding the historical information within the MineCraft application. Students will use their creative abilities and innovation to build a game that allows them to show what they've learned from lessons such as Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, and many others. Using the tablets, students get first hand experience with coding, working collaboratively, problem-solving, and learning history. This allows them to perfect their reading and writing skills using the gaming system all at the same time! Did I mention that this technology also provides students with opportunities to actively participate in STEM activities? What a treat for students to do something they love to do, PLAY, whilst gaining knowledge, literacy skills, and college and career readiness! My project reflects our school district's ideals of developing high performing students inspired to learn by using their own creativity and innovative ideas. This learning experience is vital to build a bridge between traditional learning and cutting edge technology. It creates opportunities for students to actively engages with the content. Most importantly, it will help develop marketable skills that can transfer into the workforce. APS CLL Grow.Lead.Transform.
