Integrating iPads Into Innovative Instruction
Funded Oct 24, 2018Thank you very much for the donation you made to our math intervention room! My students have loved using the iPads to practice their math facts on xtramath.org. They receive personalized fact fluency practice that is sure to help them develop automaticity, which is required for more complex problem-solving.
My students are thrilled to play math quizzes in pairs on Kahoot, using the iPads! They are able to work collaboratively to solve math equations, and they receive immediate feedback. The iPads are so lightweight that they have no objection to holding them while learning.
I have some future activities planned for my students using these iPads. I would like for them to capture images of math in the world. My students will be able to make a real-world application of math concepts!”
With gratitude,

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you very much for your contribution to our math intervention room. My kiddos were super excited to see the Question Quest math board and Brain Quest cards. I told them that some lovely people that I didn't even know donated these games for them because of the hard work they do in math intervention. I explained in greater detail, and they were very appreciative.
My students are using the resources as a "get-a-way" from the intensive math instruction they receive in class. The games are indeed challenging, but I incorporate the games as a fun mental "break". My sixth graders are especially fond of the Jeopardy-style math board. I use the Brain Quest cards as an exciting way to challenge my students before they leave the intervention room.
I will continue to use the math games as a means to keep the learning going, even when some of the students are unaware that the "play" is learning! My principal was very excited about the opportunity for our students who receive remediation to be challenged in an engaging way. Most importantly, however, is the fact that my students are immersed in math fun!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nelson
