I believe play still has a place in kindergarten. These educational toys can be used numerous ways to foster creativity and engineering, promote critical thinking and problem solving, and strengthen their fine motor skills. Additionally, some of our kindergartners have never been in a school setting before. Play encourages appropriate socialization and sharing with classmates. Kindergartners are hands on learners and need these hands on materials to grow. These activities, such as Magna-tiles, gears, lego building bricks, Kid-Knex, brain flakes, waffle blocks, interlocking building discs, wood blocks, and playfoam, would be a part of our STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) morning tubs and indoor recess activities. All of these materials encourage kids to create and use their imagination while also building finger dexterity. They will engineer anything and everything from buildings and bridges, to cars, people, animals, and even the alphabet and numbers! Each structure will look different depending on the material they use, promoting critical thinking and problem solving. Your generous donation to our project will help our kindergartners have fun while learning and developing important skills. Please help me find a space for play in kindergarten and make learning fun!
