The Hate U Give is a story that my students in Camden can relate to due to their own urban experiences. My students work on lessons that are integrated across content and differentiated to meet their specific needs, interests and learning styles.
My students are over-aged and under-credited for their high school credits. They are currently in an alternative program to help them graduate in a timely manner.
These books would help me provide differentiated lessons in a collaborative learning environment that is set up for researching, writing and applying the skills they are learning in a real world, hands-on manner rather than just simple drills.
