I teach US and AP US History to low-income and English Language Learner students. Our school does not have a library or extensive reading resources in the building. This year students are taking their first AP exam in May. My project hopes to prepare them to gain college credit by scoring 4s or 5s on the AP US History Exam. I'm requesting twenty copies of Cracking the AP U.S. History Exam, and ten copies of The Merriam-Webster Dictionary New Edition. These books will give them the ability to combine class work with their own independent preparation for the AP test. For many of my students, they will need to earn scholarships to afford the cost of a college education. By earning college credit in high school, they will not only be more competitive when applying to college, but also have to take less credits to graduate once they attend.
